Other Required Academic Activity. Other required academic activity" includes work that the University requires a Teaching Associate staff member to perform and that is performed as required, being work of the following nature: the conduct of practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions; the conduct of clinical sessions other than clinical nurse education; the conduct of performance and visual art studio sessions; musical coaching, repetiteurship, and musical accompanying other than with special educational service; development of teaching and subject materials such as the preparation of subject guides and reading lists and basic activities associated with subject co-ordination; consultation with students (other than as contemporaneous consultation for a tutorial or lecture); attendance at departmental and faculty meetings as required; and attendance at any of the activities set out in 1-4 above of this Schedule as directed. The above list is not intended to be exhaustive, but is provided by way of examples and guidance. Applications for conversion as referred to in clause 19 of the Agreement will be dealt with in accordance with this Schedule 4.

SCHEDULE 3 - CLASSIFICATIONS USED BY ACU FOR ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL The Minimum standards for levels of academic staff, other than a casual, are set out in this Schedule. The levels are differentiated by level of complexity, degree of autonomy, leadership requirements of the position and level of achievement of the academic. The responsibilities of academic staff may vary according to the specific requirements of the institution to meet its objectives, to different discipline requirements and/or to individual staff development. An academic appointed to a particular level may be assigned and may be expected to undertake, responsibilities and functions of any level up to and including the level to which the academic is appointed or promoted. In addition, an academic may undertake elements of the work of a higher level in order to gain experience and expertise consistent with the requirements of an institution’s promotion processes. The MSAL’s will not be used as a basis for claims for reclassification.
