Paid Professional Leave. The employer agrees to provide to each full-time employee at least 3 seven and one half hour (3x7.5hr) for a total of twenty-two and one half hours (22.5hrs) professional leave days per fiscal year without loss of pay upon written request. The Employer agrees to provide to each regular part-time at least 2 seven and one-half (2 x 7.5 hr.) for a total of fifteen (15) hours professional leave days per fiscal year without loss of pay upon written request. Paid professional leave may be extended to casual employees at the Manager’s discretion.

Paid Professional Leave. 0601 Paid professional leave may be approved by the Superintendent or designee and the requesting employee’s immediate supervisor, for purposes of attending appropriate conferences and meetings which provide leadership and growth in areas related to the achievement of building and district goals. Employees are expected to participate in local organizations before professional leave is approved to attend to state or national meetings of the same organizations and employees, where appropriate, are expected to be members of the organization which sponsors the meeting or conference. Priority will be given to planners, presenters and staff members receiving recognition. The district will endeavor to provide equitable access to available staff development opportunities.
Paid Professional Leave. The provisions of Section 11.5 of the Agreement governing paid professional leave will be modified for full-time tenured CHSPH faculty teaching on a semester basis: (a) CHSPH Faculty may be approved for paid professional leave in increments of one (1) or two (2) semesters at a time. If less than a full academic year of professional leave is taken at a time, the remaining semester may, if approved in a subsequent application, be taken within the remainder of the six-year period. Additional semesters are not guaranteed. (b) In calculating the amount of paid professional leave available at the University during an academic year, one (1) semester is equivalent to one and one-half (1.5) quarters. (c) CHSPH Faculty shall receive 85 percent of their semester salary while on leave if the leave is taken for one (1) semester; and 80 percent of their annual salary if the leave is taken for two (2) semesters. Within the six-year period referenced above, no more than one (1) semester will be compensated at the 85 percent rate; a subsequent semester will be compensated at the 75 percent of the faculty member’s semester salary.
Paid Professional Leave. 11.5.1 Professional leave shall be granted by the Board of Trustees for the purpose of providing opportunities for study, research, and creative activities for the enhancement of the University’s instructional and research programs. Selection for professional leave will be judged on the merits of each case as it meets the specific scholarship and/or research and service deemed important to the University criteria for selection. The element of rotation shall not be a factor in selection. Professional leave may be taken to pursue projects in the following areas:

Paid Professional Leave. CMCC recognizes that employees may be asked to participate in a professional capacity in provincial, national and/or international events where such participation will benefit both CMCC and the employee. CMCC will provide a paid professional leave in support of an employee attending the event during the employee’s normal work hours, under the following circumstances: i. The employee is invited/appointed/selected to participate in a professional capacity; and, ii. The service is provided to a provincial, national or international level event; and, iii. The service is provided without compensation (volunteer), with the exception of reimbursement of reasonable expenses by the sponsoring body; and, iv. The employee provides, in writing, evidence of how this benefits CMCC. If approved, paid professional leave of the equivalent of up to three work days in an anniversary year will be granted to provide service at the event plus a maximum of one day’s travel time, as agreed to by the employee’s supervisor. CMCC will not ordinarily pay for travel and accommodation expense associated with paid professional development leave, except as set out in Article 34.
