Professorial Appointments. 10.01 Except as may be necessary for the correction of inequities as agreed between the Parties, the standards of Article 3.00 shall be applied in making new appointments. 10.02 Each Faculty has a defined complement of professor positions which is a combination of tenure-stream and CLT positions. Each position is identified by an assigned number. Positions may be moved among Academic Units within the Faculty or among Faculties in accordance with Article 20. 10.03 Only the following types of appointments may be made: (a) tenured (b) tenure-track (probationary) (c) contractually limited term (CLT) (d) temporary (e) lecteur/lectrice (f) PAD lecturer Tenured, tenure-track (probationary), and CLT positions may be filled on a half-time basis. The duties of a half-time Professor shall be one-half of the responsibilities of full-time Professors. 10.04 Appointment with Tenure Appointment with tenure means permanency of employment up to retirement, subject to the right of the Board to dismiss for just cause in accordance with the relevant provisions and procedures of this Agreement. 10.05 Tenure-Track (Probationary) Appointments Tenure-Track (Probationary) appointment means appointment without tenure to a tenure-track position. A first probationary appointment shall be for a term of three years. During the course of this appointment, the Employee shall be considered for a second probationary appointment in accordance with the procedures given in Article 12.00. Professors who have been placed on leave (other than Doctoral Study Leave as defined in Article 24.98 or Exchanges as defined in Article 24.90) for a period of at least twenty-five (25) consecutive weeks according to the appropriate procedures in Article 24 during his/her probationary appointment shall be granted a twelve month extension for each such leave. The extension must be requested prior to the deadline cited in Article 12.02. 10.06 A second probationary appointment shall be for a term of up to three years. In the penultimate year of this appointment, the Professor shall be considered for an appointment with tenure in accordance with procedures given in Article 12.00. Professorial Appointments. 3.1 Professors generally are members of schools and are responsible to the Vice- Chancellor. The University expects professors to be available periodically to serve as Heads of Schools and requires them to be Head of School when there is no other appropriate staff member available. The formal reporting line for Professors is to the relevant Head of School, or relevant Pro Vice-Chancellor in the case of professors serving as Heads of Schools. 3.2 Professors are expected to be available for senior academic and administrative positions from time to time. 3.3 Professors have a particular responsibility for teaching, research and administration within their disciplines, and for ensuring that all resources available to the school contribute fully to the overall objectives of the University. They are also expected to ensure that the school makes an appropriate contribution to the wider work of the University, including its relationship with the community. In some disciplines the relationship with and service to relevant professional groups is an important part of this responsibility. 3.4 Particularly in a large school, the Vice-Chancellor may approve a school proposal for the appointment of a school committee which must include at least the Head of School and the professors and will not normally consist of more than six persons. Ultimate managerial responsibility and authority lies with the Head of School but formal delegation of authority may be established in appropriate areas. 3.5 Any professor who disagrees with a policy adopted or a decision made by a Head of School in a matter of importance is entitled to draw the matter to the attention of the Pro Vice-Chancellor or other senior university officer if the disagreement cannot be resolved by the normal process of discussion within the school. 3.6 All professors are entitled to attend and speak at Academic Board and are expected to contribute to its work in a manner which reflects their responsibility for the work of the University as a whole.   • Initial Appointment A person who receives an initial appointment to a position in the bargaining unit for or during a fiscal or academic year shall be appointed at a salary at least equal to the applicable minimum salary for that fiscal or academic year as specified in Article 25.5.

  • Term Appointments 1.02.1 A term appointment is one in which the beginning and end dates of employment are clearly identified in the appointment letter. 1.02.2 It is agreed that employees employed on term appointments (hereinafter referred to as term employees) are covered by the terms of this Collective Agreement except for those Articles and conditions set out below: a) It is agreed that there is no guarantee or commitment of employment to an employee beyond that which is identified in their appointment letter. b) Term appointments normally are from 3 months to 1 year in length, though such an appointment may be for a longer period under special circumstances such as, Long Term Disability, Family Leave or Leave of Absence. c) Prior to hiring or renewing an employee on a term appointment, Human Resources staff will evaluate a job description submitted by the Department Head/Designate and determine the appropriate salary range and hiring salary in accordance with the Salary Administration provision of this Agreement. If the original appointment letter indicates a period of employment of more than 12 months, or if the employee's actual period of employment in the same position exceeds 12 months, the position description will be submitted for evaluation by the Joint Technical Position Evaluation Committee at the beginning of the thirteenth month of employment. If this evaluation results in a salary increase, the increase shall be made effective to the beginning of the thirteenth month of employment. d) Notwithstanding Article 21.01, term appointments of 3 to 6 months duration will not normally be posted; however, written notice will be sent to the Union. e) For the purposes of seniority, term employees will not be considered as new employees if they are rehired within 6 months of a previous termination. f) Notwithstanding Article 17 (Sick Leave), term employees shall be entitled to accumulate paid sick leave determined at the rate of 2 days per calendar month of their appointment to a maximum of 60 days. g) Notwithstanding Article 12 (Layoff and Recall), in the event of a layoff the University will provide as much advance notice as possible to term employees. However, term employees shall not be entitled to recall rights. h) Term employees shall not be covered by the following articles or clauses of the Collective Agreement: Article 12, Article 17.01, Article 17.02, Article 21.05. i) Term employees whose employment has been renewed beyond the original term appointment, and whose appointment will not be renewed again, will be given a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice or notice pursuant to the Employment Standards Act, whichever is greater, confirming the end date stated in their subsequent appointment letter. j) Term employees who are laid off are entitled to severance pay in accordance with Appendix B, Chart B.

  • Medical and Dental Appointments An employee may attend a medical consultation, receive dental treatment or be absent because of sickness for less than one-half day without reduction of sick leave credits and/or pay.

  • Exclusive Appointment The Company acknowledges that the appointment of the Manager hereunder is an exclusive appointment for the Term. The Company shall not appoint other managers with respect to the Vessels or the Containership business during the Term, except in circumstances in which it is necessary to do so in order to comply with Applicable Laws or as otherwise agreed by the Manager in writing. This Section 2.5 does not prohibit the Company from having its own employees perform the Management Services.

  • Scope of Appointment A. Subject to the conditions set forth in this Agreement, Fund hereby employs and appoints Service Company as Transfer Agent and Dividend Disbursing Agent effective the date hereof. B. Subject to the provisions of Sections 20 and 21 hereof, Service Company agrees that it will perform all the usual and ordinary services of Transfer Agent and Dividend Disbursing Agent and as agent for the various shareholder accounts, including, without limitation, the following: issuing, transferring and cancelling share certificates, maintaining all shareholder accounts, preparing shareholder meeting lists, mailing proxies, receiving and tabulating proxies, mailing shareholder reports and prospectuses, withholding federal income taxes, preparing and mailing checks for disbursement of income and capital gains dividends, preparing and filing all required U.S. Treasury Department information returns for all shareholders, preparing and mailing confirmation forms to shareholders and dealers with respect to all purchases and liquidations of Fund shares and other transactions in shareholder accounts for which confirmations are required, recording reinvestments of dividends and distributions in Fund shares, recording redemptions of Fund shares and preparing and mailing checks for payments upon redemption and for disbursements to systematic withdrawal plan shareholders.

  • Probationary Appointments The duration of a probationary appointment for persons appointed after the signing of this Collective Agreement shall normally be six (6) years, unless a shorter period was stipulated in the letter of appointment.
