Reporting of Absence. An Employee who will be absent from duty as a result of sickness or disability shall notify her immediate supervisor or designate as soon as possible prior to the commencement of her scheduled shift. By failing to do so, except in extenuating circumstances, the Employee shall be considered absent without leave and the Employer may make a deduction in pay for the time which expires between the time the Employee should have reported for work and the time at which the Employee reported their sickness or disability.
Reporting of Absence. Absences must be reported according to the positive time reporting process or an absence slip must be submitted upon the employee’s return to work if necessary.
Reporting of Absence. A member of the bargaining unit shall report each day of absence from the University. Specifically, vacation, illness (short-term disability), mandatory sick leave, bereavement leave, parent leave, jury duty, and military leave, shall be reported in a timely fashion on the official Time/Exception Report. A member of the bargaining unit shall discuss with the designated person in his/her academic unit teaching obligations and/or other essential duties that will be affected by absence from the University for any of the reasons set forth in Sections C.4.a, C.4.b, and D of this Article.

Employees who are not able to work as scheduled shall report their anticipated absence or tardiness as early as possible as directed by their building principal or other supervisor. Patterns of absences (e.g. repeated Monday/Friday absences or prolonged absences) shall be grounds for explanation by the employee upon request and may be cause for progressive discipline action.
