Role of Xxxxxxx in Processing Grievances. The xxxxxxx will obtain permission from his/her immediate supervisor when leaving the work assignment to carry out xxxxxxx duties in connection with this Agreement. When contacting an employee, the xxxxxxx will first report to and obtain permission to see the employee from the employee's supervisor. Such permission will be granted unless the work situation or an emergency demands otherwise. If the immediate supervisor is unavailable, permission will be requested from the next level of supervision. Such requests shall include names (employee's), work location and approximate time (anticipated) that will be needed. The xxxxxxx will report back to his/her supervisor upon completion of such duties and return to work without a loss in pay or benefits. The Union will cooperate in preventing abuse of this Section. Xxxxxxx coverage shall be no greater than sixty-five (65) stewards, eight (8) of whom may be designated for general jurisdiction. Only one (1) xxxxxxx shall represent a grievant at any given time.

When contacting an employee, the xxxxxxx will first report to and obtain permission from the employee’s managerial designee and such permission will be granted unless the work situation or an emergency demands otherwise. If the managerial designee is unavailable, permission will be requested from the next higher level of management. Requests by stewards to meet with employees or by employees to meet with stewards, will state the name of the employee involved, his location, indicate the general nature of the Union business to be discussed, and approximate time that will be needed. Stewards thus engaged will report back to the managerial designee on completion of such duties and return to their job and will suffer no loss of pay or other benefits as a result thereof. The Union will cooperate in preventing abuse of this Section. The State will not inhibit time spent by stewards in processing grievances.

Stewards thus engaged will report back to their supervisors on completion of such duties and return to their job and will suffer no loss of pay or other benefits as a result thereof, provided such duties do not exceed two (2) hours per week for any individual stewards unless otherwise mutually agreed. The sufficiency of xxxxxxx coverage shall be a subject of continuing consultation between the Employer and the Union. The Union will cooperate in preventing abuse of this Section.

The signatory shall be the Local President, or specifically authorized designee, which may, at the president’s discretion, include local officers and/or staff representatives. The Management signatory shall be the Commissioner or equivalent of the agency or a management employee specifically authorized by the Commissioner, or in the case of any agreement and/or understanding requiring the signature of a representative of the Office of Labor Relations, a Labor Relations Specialist or higher representative of the Office of Labor Relations. Any agreement or understanding not signed by authorized signatories shall not be valid.

  • Processing Grievances The grievant shall be granted reasonable time off with pay from regularly scheduled duty hours to process a grievance, provided that the time off will be devoted to the prompt and efficient investigation and handling of grievances, subject to the following:

  • Rules of Grievance Processing 1. Time limits at any stage of the grievance procedure may be extended by mutual agreement of the parties at that step.

  • Processing of a Grievance It is recognized and accepted by the Union and the Employer that the processing of grievances as hereinafter provided is limited by the job duties and responsibilities of the employees and shall therefore be accomplished during normal working hours only when consistent with such employee duties and responsibilities. The aggrieved employee and a Union representative shall be allowed a reasonable amount of time without loss of pay when a grievance is investigated and presented to the Employer during normal working hours provided that the employee and the Union representative have notified and received the approval of the designated supervisor who has determined that such absence is reasonable and would not be detrimental to the work programs of the Employer.
