School discipline. The Parents accept the authority of the Head and of other members of staff on the Head's behalf to take all reasonable disciplinary or preventative action necessary to safeguard and promote the welfare of the Pupil and the School community as a whole. The School's policies on behaviour and discipline current at the time and published on the School website apply to all pupils at the School and at all times when the Pupil is in or at school (including when engaged in online or remote learning), representing the School or wearing School uniform, travelling to or from School, on School-organised trips or associated with the School at any time. The policies shall also apply at all times and places in circumstances where failing to apply this policy may affect the health, safety or wellbeing of a member of the School community or a member of the public, have repercussions for the orderly running of the School or bring the School into disrepute.

The School's Code of Conduct and Behaviour Policy which is current at the time and published on the School's website applies to all students when they are on School premises, or in the care of the School, or wearing School uniform, or otherwise representing or associated with the School.

The school administration, not the SRO, has primary responsibility for maintaining order in the school environment and for investigating and responding to school disciplinary matters. The SRO shall refer any reports or concerns relating to student discipline to the principal or designee and shall not independently investigate or administer consequences for violations of the Student Code of Conduct or any school disciplinary rules. The SRO should generally not have any further involvement in routine disciplinary matters, such as tardiness, loitering, noncompliance, the use of inappropriate language, dress code violations, minor classroom disruptions, and disrespectful behaviors and other similar minor infractions of school rules. School officials shall only request SRO assistance when necessary to protect the physical safety of staff, students, or others in the school environment.

The policies shall also apply at all times and places in circumstances where failing to apply this policy may affect the health, safety or wellbeing of a member of the School community or a member of the public, have repercussions for the orderly running of the School or bring the School into disrepute.

The Parents hereby confirm that they accept the authority of the School’s principal and of other members of staff on the School’s principal's behalf to take all reasonable disciplinary or preventative action necessary to safeguard and promote the welfare of each Student and the school community as a whole. The School's disciplinary policy which is current at the time applies to all Students when they are on school premises or in the care of the School, or otherwise representing or associated with the School. These policies may undergo reasonable change from time to time but will not authorise any form of unlawful activity. The Parents acknowledge that disciplinary policies may require a Student to undertake menial but not degrading tasks on behalf of the school or external community, withdrawal of privileges including off-campus privileges, suspension, or alternatively being removed or expelled.

District administration shall be solely responsible for implementing student discipline rules, policies and procedures, and investigating any violations of school rules, policies and procedures. District administration, not the SRO, has primary responsibility for maintaining order in the school environment and for investigating and responding to matters. The SRO shall refer any concerns related to student to the Building Principal or designee and shall not independently investigate or administer consequences for violations of student disciplinary rules, policies or procedures. The SRO should generally not have any involvement in routine disciplinary matters, such as tardies, loitering, noncompliance, the use of inappropriate language, dress code violations, minor classroom disruptions, disrespectful behavior, and other minor infractions of school rules. School officials shall only request SRO assistance when necessary to protect the physical safety of students, faculty, staff and others in the School environment or when a student engages in criminal activity. This does not prohibit the SRO from independently investigating student conduct which involves violations of law, even if the same student conduct which violates the law also results in disciplinary action by District administration (see Paragraph 13, Joint Law Enforcement and School Discipline Investigations, below).

School discipline. 53.01 Educational Assistants shall attend staff meetings for in-service of various Board compliance issues.
53.02 Copies of policies and procedures shall be made available to the members at their work location upon request, should these not yet be available on the school or Board websites.
53.03 Educational Assistants shall receive a copy of the school’s Code of Conduct/discipline policy as implemented or amended.
53.04 Educational Assistant shall be expected to support and be supported by the school’s Code of Conduct/discipline and Safe Schools policies.
School discipline. School discipline is solely the responsibility of school administrators. The SRO will not be involved in the investigation of disciplinary infractions under the code of conduct or enforcement of the code of conduct.
