The primary purpose of the sick leave allowance is to cover the absence of any employee from school because of personal illness sufficiently severe that it will make his presence in school inadvisable. SICK LEAVE AND SICK LEAVE BANK a. Annual Sick Leave Each full-time teacher shall be entitled to twelve (12) days sick leave per school year without loss of pay. Part-time teachers will receive sick leave on a pro-rata basis. If any teacher does not use the full amount of annual sick leave thus allowed, the unused amount shall have unlimited accumulation. The Superintendent or his designee may request a statement by a physician or spiritual advisor as a basis for pay for sick leave taken the day before or the day after a holiday. A teacher may not use a fractional percent less than one quarter day for sick leave. Fractional portions less than one-quarter day will be considered one-quarter day sick leave.
SICK LEAVE AND SICK LEAVE BANK. ● The District shall allow (12 days) Sick Leave at full pay for each school year. ● Managerial and confidential employees may contribute and benefit from the administrator's sick leave bank. ● Membership in the Sick Leave Bank shall be optional. Members who choose to join the bank must contribute one half (1/2) day earned personal sick leave to the bank in order to become members. The one half (1/2) day contributed to the bank shall not be retrievable for use as a half day of sick leave. There shall be an Open Enrollment period for all members to join the Sick Leave Bank at least once per year. Once a member joins the Sick Leave Bank they cannot leave and then re-enroll.

When a bargaining unit member's FTE (full time equivalent) is increased or decreased; their sick and personal leave shall be adjusted accordingly. For example, a .3 FTE bargaining unit member who has accumulated 20 sick days and who has his/her position increased to .6 FTE will be credited with 10 sick days.

The accumulation of unused sick leave shall be one hundred and sixty-seven (167) days. Part time teachers working less than five (5) days per week, shall be granted seven and one-half (7.5) sick days per year cumulative to eighty-three and one-half (83.5) days. Part time teachers working five (5) days per week shall be granted the full number of sick days, however a sick day shall be based upon the number of hours in the employees usual work day.
