SICKNESS AND ACCIDENT LEAVE. Short Term Sickness Plan (STSP)
37.02 The STSP will be as provided for all other direct gaming hourly employees of OLG, as may be amended from time to time. The STSP is currently self insured but the Employer reserves the right to at any time obtain a carrier for the Plan and to substitute an insured plan with all premiums paid by the Employer. When making such a substitution, the Employer shall notify the Union to explain the proposed change.
37.03 The employee has an obligation to maintain and submit all necessary forms, designations and information required for benefit coverage to go into effect, for coverage to continue, and for benefit recovery. Failure to furnish such evidence may result in loss of benefits for the time period.
37.04 The Employer will maintain and provide an LTIP for qualified full-time employees who have been “totally disabled” for a period of longer than six (6) months. The LTIP will be as provided for all other direct gaming hourly employees of OLG, as may be amended from time to time. Participation for full- time employees is mandatory. A full-time employee is eligible for coverage on the first day of the month coinciding with or following probation if he or she is a new employee or, alternatively, following two months of continuous service in a full-time position.
37.05 An employee is considered to be “totally disabled” if they are wholly and continuously unable to perform normal work due to an illness or injury during the first thirty (30) months following the date of disability.
37.06 LTIP premiums are eighty-five percent (85%) paid by the Employer and fifteen percent (15%) by the employee.
37.07 LTIP is an insured plan and it is understood that as with all insured plans the Employer does not in any way act as the insurer in respect of these benefits, nor does the Employer bear any responsibility in the event of a dispute between an employee and the insurer. SICKNESS AND ACCIDENT LEAVE. 41.01 Employees upon completion of ninety (90) calendar days of employment, shall be credited with 48 hours sick leave.
SICKNESS AND ACCIDENT LEAVE. 52.1 Upon attaining seniority, Full-time bargaining unit employees shall be credited with one half day (1/2) sick leave with pay for each subsequent month of active employment to a maximum of five (5) days per contract year.
52.2 Sick leave benefits paid to an employee pursuant to this Article will be paid at the employee's regular straight time hourly rate of pay at the time of absence.
52.3 Employees will be allowed to accumulate unused sick leave credits from year to year to a maximum of twenty (20) days. An employee who has accumulated more than five (5) days may elect in writing to be paid out from their accumulated sick leave credits in excess of five (5) days. Such payments will be made on the next pay.
52.4 In the event of a change of status (i.e. Full-time to Part-time; or laid off; or retirement; or WSIB leave of absence accumulated prior to going on WSIB), the employee will have the option to be paid out for unused sick credits or bank them (except retirement – payout is required).
52.5 Should an employee cease to be employed by the Company, for any reason, unused sick leave credits will not be paid out.
52.6 An employee who is absent in excess of three (3) work days will be required to provide a physician's note certifying that the employee is fit to return to work.

SICKNESS AND ACCIDENT LEAVE. 35.01 Full time employees who have completed their probationary period will accumulate sick leave credits on the basis of 6 hours per month to a maximum of 72 hours per calendar year (this includes hours paid, Statutory holiday, vacation). Part-time employees who have completed their probationary period will accumulate sixteen (16) hours sick leave credits. Additional sick leave credits will be prorated after sixteen (16) hours to a maximum of thirty-two (32) hours per calendar year. Article 35.03 applies to part-time sick leave credits.
35.02 Sick leave credits are to be used during periods of absence from work related to the employee's illness or injury, which is not covered by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
35.03 Sick leave credits that have not been used during the calendar year will be paid out in the first pay period in January.
35.04 Employees who are absent from work for three (3) consecutive days may be required to provide a doctor’s note to justify his/her absence. Employees whose pattern of absence indicates an attendance/health difficulty will meet with the employer to discuss his/her attendance problems. If the problem continues, the employee may be required to provide a doctor’s note to justify his/her absence.
SICKNESS AND ACCIDENT LEAVE. 37.01 Effective upon ratification, September 30, 2018, and following the successful completion of the probationary period, all full-time permanent employees covered by this agreement will be granted a total of six (6) paid sick leave days for use for each calendar year. The total of six (6) sick days is refreshed on January 1st of each year, and therefore does not accumulate from year to year.
37.02 Subject to any limitations below, and the terms and conditions outlined in the insurance/benefit carrier policies, the Employer agrees to provide the following benefits for eligible full-time employees:
(a) Short-Term Disability (STD)
(i) Benefit is a bi-weekly taxable benefit equal to sixty-six and two thirds percent (66 2/3 %) of gross weekly earnings to a maximum of two thousand ($2,000) bi-weekly and for a maximum of twenty-six (26) weeks.
(ii) The benefit may commence the first day of an accident, first day of hospitalization, first day of a women’s shelter, first day of a treatment in a medically supervised facility, or the eighth day of illness.
