The Employer-paid portion of all payments and subsidies will continue to be made. USE OF ACCUMULATED CREDITS 44.6 An employee on leave of absence under Article 44.1(b) may, at his or her option, have one-quarter (¼) of a day deducted from his or her accumulated credits (attendance, vacation or overtime credits) for each such day of absence and receive regular pay. 44.7 An employee who is absent from his or her duties due to sickness or injury beyond the total number of days provided for in Article 44.1 shall have his or her accumulated attendance credits reduced by a number of days equal to such absence and he or she shall receive regular pay for that period. 44.8 Article 44.7 does not apply to an employee when he or she qualifies for and elects to receive benefits under the Long Term Income Protection Plan. 44.9 Where, for reasons of health, an employee is frequently absent or unable to perform his or her duties, the Employer may require him or her to submit to a medical examination at the expense of the Employer. 44.10 After five (5) days’ absence caused by sickness, no leave with pay shall be allowed unless a certificate of a legally qua...

SHORT TERM SICKNESS PLAN. 42.1.1 Effective until December 31, 2016, a full-time employee who is unable to attend to his / her duties due to sickness or injury is entitled, in each calendar year, to leave of absence, a) with regular salary for the first six (6) working days; and b) an additional one hundred and twenty-four (124) working days in each calendar year at sixty-six and two-thirds percent (66 2/3%) of regular salary; or c) notwithstanding 42.1.1 (b), with seventy-five percent (75%) of regular salary for an additional one hundred and twenty-four (124) working days, if a certificate of a legally qualified medical practitioner is forwarded to the employee’s manager or designee certifying that the employee is unable to attend to official duties due to a severe mental or physical illness or injury (e.g. stroke, serious accident, hospitalization in excess of two (2) days, Quarantined, declared Pandemic event, shingles), or serious chronic mental or physical illness or injury (e.g. cancer, Crohns, multiple sclerosis, cystic fibrosis).
SHORT TERM SICKNESS PLAN. The short term disability program is intended for total disability from work due to illness or injury. Employees meeting this requirement shall not suffer any loss of regular pay for up to six (6) days in a calendar year when an employee is absent due to illness and would be otherwise scheduled to work. Employees shall be reimbursed for seventy-five percent (75%) of regular pay for up to an additional one hundred and twenty-four (124) days in a calendar year. Employees may choose to have one- quarter (¼) day deducted from vacation credits, if any, to top up sick leave from seventy-five percent (75%) to one hundred percent (100%) of regular pay. Payments under this provision are subject to such medical evidence, if any, as the Employer may require. When the Employer requests an employee to provide a sick note and/or medical information from a qualified physician or nurse practitioner it shall reimburse, with receipts, up to twenty-five dollars ($25.00), per document. Employees who fail to cooperate with the Employer and/or Medical Advisor may have payments delayed or denied. a) The Employer pays the full salary for up to six (6) calendar days of illness in a calendar year. Unused days do not carry forward. b) The Employer also pays the full cost to provide seventy-five percent (75%) of the employee’s salary for an additional one hundred and twenty-four (124) days of total disability. c) Employees may choose to top up the seventy-five percent (75%) to one hundred (100%) of pay by having one-quarter (¼) day deducted from vacation credits or overtime credits. The employee must notify payroll of this intention. The default is seventy-five percent (75%) payment. d) An employee is not entitled to access the Short Term Sickness plan until the employee has completed all of their regularly scheduled hours of work within a period of fifteen (15) consecutive working days. e) An employee on a sick leave of absence which commences on a regularly scheduled working day in one calendar year and continues to include a regularly scheduled working day in the following calendar year, is not entitled to leave of absence with pay under this policy for more than the number of days provided in (a) and (b) in the two years until the employee has returned to work and again completed the service requirement in (d). f) An employee who has used the total number of days available under (a) and
