Special Purpose Leave. 1. The employer may grant leave with or without pay to a permanent full-time, permanent part-time or long-term relieving employee in accordance with the employer's leave policy. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld. In granting such leave, the employer may make provision for any necessary travelling time.
Special Purpose Leave. Each full time employee shall have two (2) days of special purpose leave per year with pay and each part-time employee shall have one (1) day of special purpose leave per year with pay. Such special purpose leave shall not be cumulative from year to year and may only be used for unavoidable personal business or personal affairs which cannot be transacted other than during the employee's work day. Special purpose leave shall not be used for vacation or recreational purposes. Any such special purpose leave shall be subject to the prior notification and approval of the employee's building Principal and shall not be used to enable a member of the bargaining unit to be an employee of another. The employee shall not be required to state the specific nature of the personal business or personal affairs, provided, however, the employee must state that it otherwise meets the criteria of this section.
Special Purpose Leave. Professional Staff Members after five (5) years of employment at the College may be granted leaves of absence without pay up to one (1) year upon the approval of the President.

Policy on special leave for family reasons shall recognise the following definition of family: The employee's spouse / partner, children, parents, or near relatives, which shall include grandparents, parents-in-law, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, grandchildren, xxxxxxxx, xxxx, mokopuna, xxxxxxx / xxxxxx child and matua whangai / xxxxxx parent. Note: Kaumatua / Xxxx in the context of this provision means respected elder of the kin group or one who has close links with the kin group. The terms do not exist beyond those degrees of relationship.
Special Purpose Leave. Special purpose leaves of absence without compensation or fringe benefits may be granted by the President of the College upon application of a faculty member after favorable recommendation of such leave by the department chairperson, School Xxxx and the Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, Workforce Development, and Student Success. It is intended that not more than five (5) faculty members will be granted special purpose leaves during one (1) academic year. Application for special purpose leave of absence must be submitted to the President of the College at least three (3) months prior to the requested commencement date of the leave. The application for special purpose leave of absence must meet the eligibility requirements and criteria set forth in this Article. Final determination of whether or not the request shall be granted shall rest solely in the discretion of the President, and their decision shall not be grievable.
Special Purpose Leave. Tenured members of the faculty may be granted leaves of absence for one year, without pay, for special purposes such as study, writing, research, graduate projects, public service, or for other purposes which may bring credit to the individual and the College. The Board may extend such leaves beyond the one year limit, upon recommendation of the President of the College. Upon returning from such leave(s), the faculty member shall be placed on the same step on the Salary Schedule on which s/he would have been placed had s/he remained at the College during that period. Special Purpose Leave. Upon application by a member of the bargaining unit, the Board of Trustees in its discretion may grant a leave of absence without pay for up to one (1) year. This application shall be submitted to the immediate supervisor of the employee.
Special Purpose Leave. 8 14.11.1 A Special Purpose leave of absence may be requested by the unit 9 member and may be approved by the District for a period not to 10 exceed twelve (12) months for reasons satisfactory to the District.
Special Purpose Leave. An extended leave of absence for special purposes may be granted. Also, extended leaves beyond the original period of time requested, whether maternity, sabbatical, or otherwise, may be granted with the Board's approval. All extended leaves of absence will be without pay.
Special Purpose Leave. Leave of absence without pay or benefits, up to one (1) year in length, for special purposes may be granted by the President of the College upon written application of the employee, after favorable recommendation of such leave by the employee's supervisor and supervising Vice President/Cabinet Member. Insofar as possible, within ten (10) days after receipt of such request by the College President, the employee shall be notified of the disposition of his/her request. Decisions of the College with regard to a special purpose leave request shall not be arbitrable. The time spent on this leave shall not be deemed a break in service under the terms of this agreement, but where the leave extends beyond six (6) months, shall not be counted as regular service for purposes of promotion, increases in salary, seniority, length of service, retirement, or any other ancillary or fringe benefits except as may be otherwise provided by applicable law. Upon timely return from unpaid leave, the employee shall retain the same seniority that he/she held prior to the commencement of the leave.
