Summer Work Assignment. A. It is mutually agreed between the Wentzville R-IV School District and the Wentzville Federation of School Related Employees, Local 4894, that discussions to establish a summer work schedule will be completed prior to April 1. B. Employees will be notified of the beginning dates and ending dates for the summer work calendar by no later than May 1 of each school year.

Summer Work Assignment. A. When work normally and customarily performed by bargaining unit employees is required to be performed at times other than during the regular academic year, the work shall be assigned to employees by seniority serving in the appropriate classification(s). B. When it is necessary to assign employees not regularly so assigned to serve during a summer work period, the assignment shall be made on the basis of qualifications for employment in the classification of service required. In no event shall the employee be required to accept such assignment. C. An employee who accepts a summer work assignment, and who works in a lower classification during the summer, shall receive the lower rate of pay for the classification he/she is working. An employee who works in a higher classification shall receive the higher rate of pay for the classification in which he/she is working.
Summer Work Assignment. The District shall give all less than twelve-month employees an opportunity to apply for short-term summer work opportunities by circulating sign-up sheets not less than ten (10) days prior to the end of the academic year in June. Employees who wish to work during summer recess shall express such interest by signing up during the circulation period of the sign-up sheet. The closure date for sign-up for summer work shall be June 10 of each academic year or the following Monday if the 10th falls on a weekend. The sign-up sheets shall be located next to the classified employee time card binder at each work site. 16.7.1 There are three categories of summer work assignments: 1) employees who work during the summer in the same classification as their regular academic year assignment, 2) employees who work during the summer in a different classification than their regular academic year assignment, but a classification which exists during the academic year, and 3) employees who work during the summer in short-term assignments that do not exist during the academic year. 16.7.2 The District shall select qualified employees on the basis of seniority for summer work assignments in preference to outside applicants. Employees selected for summer work assignments shall receive the same compensation that applies to that work during the academic year. Compensation for unusual assignments which do not fall within existing classes shall be subject to the mutual agreement of the District and CSEA. 16.7.3 All short-term summer work assignments shall be considered extra work above and beyond the employee’s regular employment. Xxxxxx work assignments are compensated only if worked and no paid leave may be taken from these assignments.
