Summer Work Assignments. Summer work assignments are those assignments that hold no specific job classification. Ending dates may be approximate depending on the assignment. The Human Resources Department shall make available applications for summer work. Applications must be completed and returned to Human Resources by the first Monday in April of each year. Summer Work Assignments. When summer work is assigned to individuals employed by the District, it will be assigned to the most senior bargaining unit member who is qualified to perform the available work, provided the employee has made written application.
Summer Work Assignments. 1. If the District determines that short-term work is required during the “traditional summer” period, the District will post an announcement of that work throughout the District, not less than five (5) working days prior to the date needed.
2. Employees working less than twelve (12) months and/or eight (8) hours may file a written request for consideration of any work for which the employee is qualified.
3. Assignments will be made by the District from among those qualified.
4. An employee assigned to work during the summer recess period in his/her normal classification shall receive, on a prorated basis, no less than the compensation and benefits applicable to that classification during the regular academic year.
5. An employee assigned to work during the summer recess period in a classification other than his/her normal classification shall receive, on a prorated, no less than the compensation and benefits applicable at Step 1 of the appropriate salary range of the classification in which summer work is assigned.

B. Employees other than Twelve Month employees who are awarded summer work that is available shall receive the rate of pay applicable to the position and corresponding to their proper step on the wage schedule.
C. Employees other than Twelve Month employees who are awarded summer work positions within the bargaining unit shall accrue leave days or vacation time credit up to three (3) vacation days for this supplemental work.
D. Employees other than Twelve Month employees who wish to be considered for summer work assignments must apply in writing to the Human Resources Manager before May 15 of each year.
Section 8 Upon the request of the employee or Administration an employee's job description shall be reviewed by the employee and his/her supervisor to ensure accuracy annually. Clarifications to the description shall be made to the Association President and to the Superintendent (or designee). The job description shall contain a general description of duties and responsibilities and to whom the employee is responsible. No evaluations shall be conducted unless the employee's job description has been developed and given to the employee.
Section 9 Employees may use time clocks or the electronic timekeeping system instead of submitting their working hours on a time card. Time cards will be completed for each day worked prior to leaving for the day.
Summer Work Assignments. 46 Employees with perfect attendance during summer work assignments of twenty (20) or more days shall 47 be entitled to a one hundred dollar ($100.00) bonus; work assignments of forty (40) or more days shall 48 be entitled to a two hundred dollar ($200.00) bonus.
Summer Work Assignments. Drivers who have achieved permanent status and whose work year is less than 12 months may sign up for summer work within their job description during the Summer recess period.

Summer custodial work, if available, including substituting for absent unit employees, shall be assigned to employees in the bargaining unit, over new or non bargaining unit employees, provided they make written application. Summer Work Assignments. Each teacher in the following certification areas who is approved to work a designated number of hours during the summer recess shall be compensated at their per diem rate, (annual salary divided by 200 divided by 6 hours) based on their current year annual salary, for the number of hours worked each day. High school and middle school counselors, child study team members, physical and occupational therapist, speech therapist, advanced placement teachers, and those extended school year teachers whose summer assignment is an extension of their work year responsibilities.
Summer Work Assignments. A. Summer custodial work, if available, including substituting for absent unit employees, shall be assigned to employees in the bargaining unit, over new or non bargaining unit employees, provided they make written application. They will be paid at the rate: of Thirteen Dollars and Twenty Seven Cents ($13.27) per hour for the 2003-2004 school year. Each subsequent year of the contract the rate shall increase by the same rate of increase applied to the salary schedule. Employees must be available for the full period of time designated for such work.
B. Employees with past experience will qualify under the above plan.
C. Employees other than twelve (12) month employees who are awarded summer work positions shall not accrue leave days, or vacation time credit for this supplement work, nor shall they accrue any additional fringe benefits.
D. Employees other than twelve (12) month employees, who are awarded summer work that is available within their job classification, shall receive their present rate of pay which is applicable to their position. Employees assigned to other classifications for the summer, shall be paid in accordance with Section A of this Article.
E. Employees awarded summer work in their classification/department, shall be awarded such work on a classification/department seniority basis.
F. During summer months, winter breaks, mid-winter breaks, and spring breaks, when school is not in session, all shifts at all schools shall work the day shift, except at the high schools and buildings where community education programs or special activities warrant afternoon shift coverage. Further, the Board shall attempt to avoid issuing facility use permits during such periods of time. It is understood that during the summer months, the high school afternoon shifts will be staffed with at least a head custodian and two custodians regularly assigned to the building. Shift preference shall be granted to employees regularly assigned to the building on the basis of seniority.
Summer Work Assignments. Assignment of work during the summer months not included in regular less than two hundred and sixty (260) day work schedules, shall be offered to employees assigned to the service area first; if declined, the work shall be done on a seniority rotational basis.
5.7.1 Should all qualified employees (to include regular part-time employees and substitute employees) decline to work an extra assignment the Chief of Security Services or designee will assign the work to regular employees the work based on inverse seniority.
