Unanticipated Leave. Utilization of sick leave that cannot be anticipated in advance, such as sudden illness, must be validated by contacting, as soon as possible and, to the extent possible, within one-half (½) hour after the beginning of the Sergeant’s scheduled workday, the Sergeant’s supervisor or by utilizing such method specifically directed by the Sergeant’s supervisor to notify NJIT of unanticipated sick leave.
Unanticipated Leave. While prior notification and approval may, in extraordinary circumstances, be impossible or impracticable for every circumstance and condition enabling long-term leave, the same procedures and reciprocal right of the University and the MBU as outlined in provision D.1.b. above shall apply except that the notification to the University must be approved as soon as possible and to the extent possible no later than three (3) days following the occurrence of the enabling event. Approval for a long-term leave must then be secured through those procedures outlined in provision D.2.a. immediately above.
Unanticipated Leave. For unit members who are not public safety officers, utilization of Sick Leave that cannot be anticipated in advance, such as sudden illness, must be validated by contacting, as soon as possible and, to the extent possible, within one-half (½) hour after the beginning of the employee’s scheduled workday, the employee’s supervisor or by utilizing such method specifically directed by the employee’s supervisor to notify the Employer of unanticipated Sick Leave. Public Safety Officers who call in sick for unanticipated illness must give a minimum of three (3) hours advance notification, prior to the commencement of the Officer’s scheduled shift, to the Department of Public Safety in accordance with departmental procedures for leave request and approval. Failure of a Public Safety Officer to provide a minimum of three (3) hours advance notification, absent exceptional circumstances, shall be considered an offense subject to disciplinary action under Article VIII.
Unanticipated Leave. In the event that a teacher has exhausted personal business leave days, the Chickasha School District shall provide for all teachers a maximum of three (3) days for unanticipated leave, at the certified substitute cost to the District which will be assumed by the teacher. These days are non-cumulative. Such leave shall be limited to unanticipated events and spouse business events on which dates cannot be rescheduled. Requests for unanticipated leave shall be made in writing and in advance to the Superintendent designee for approval. The types of situations that may qualify for unanticipated leave are varied and numerous; however, the Superintendent designee will judge each situation on its own merit.
Unanticipated Leave. Sick Leave that cannot be anticipated in advance, such as sudden illness, must be reported by contacting, as soon as possible and, to the extent possible, within one-half (½) hour after the beginning of the Lieutenant’s scheduled workday, the Lieutenant’s supervisor or by utilizing such method specifically directed by the Lieutenant’s supervisor.
Unanticipated Leave. Utilization of Sick Leave that cannot be anticipated in advance, such as sudden illness, must be validated by contacting, as soon as possible and, to the extent possible, within one-half (½) hour after the beginning of the employee’s scheduled workday, the employee’s supervisor or by utilizing such method specifically directed by the employees supervisor to notify the Employer of unanticipated Sick Leave. If absent for five (5) or more consecutive working days, the employee must present a physician’s statement specifically validating the duration and nature of illness enabling Sick Leave usage. An employee absent for unanticipated Sick Leave for any and all periods totaling more than ten (10) days in any fiscal year may be required to submit a physician’s statement validating the duration and nature of illness enabling Sick Leave usage. Sick Leave taken for purposes of bereavement, pursuant to provision C.2. above, shall not be counted for purposes of either the five (5) or ten (10) day validation requirement; however, bereavement utilization of Sick Leave must, upon request, be validated through independent written documentation whether anticipated or unanticipated. Upon receipt of a specific diagnostic statement from a physician describing a chronic, debilitating illness of an employee, the five (5) and ten (10) day validation requirement shall be waived as a matter of regular course; however, upon reasonable suspicion of abuse or following fifteen (15) days usage of Sick Leave during a fiscal year, the Employer, the Union and employee shall meet for the purpose of either investigating potential abuse and/or to discuss the absenteeism in attempt to avoid disciplinary action. In any event, an employee suffering from a certified chronic illness must at least once every six (6) months provide the Employer with medical re- certification of the chronic illness. Nothing herein shall be deemed, except as specifically stated, to limit management’s prerogatives relative to operational determinations including the potentiality for termination of an employee whose legitimate absenteeism is too excessive to continue in active employment.
Unanticipated Leave. A. If the need for leave cannot be anticipated, the employee shall (first) attempt to contact the immediate supervisor or designated point of contact official to request approval of unscheduled/emergency leave by telephone within one hour after the start of the employee's normal work day, or as soon as possible thereafter.
Unanticipated Leave. If absent for three (3) or more consecutive working days, the PSO, upon request by University, must present, reasonable evidence of the need enabling sick leave usage. By way of illustration but not limitation, a statement from a licensed health care provider as defined in Section 8.A. above, validating the nature and duration of the work disabling event will suffice. Notwithstanding the foregoing, a PSO absent for unanticipated sick leave for any and all periods totaling more than ten (10) days in any fiscal year may be required to submit reasonable evidence of the need enabling sick leave usage such as that provided by the example above. Sick leave taken for purposes of bereavement, pursuant to Section 8.B., III., B. above, shall not be counted for purposes of either the three (3) or ten (10) day validation requirement; however, bereavement utilization of sick leave must, upon request, be validated through independent written documentation whether anticipated or unanticipated.
