Union Activity During Work Hours. 35-1. No Bargaining Unit Member shall engage in organizational activity, grievance activity, or any other union related activity on the premises of the District during work hours of the Bargaining Unit Member except with the express prior agreement of the District.
Union Activity During Work Hours. The identified bargaining unit employee representative or designee may be granted time off with pay during work hours, the total of which on a daily basis shall not exceed the representative’s normally scheduled workday, for attendance at labor/management meetings, committee meetings and activities (where such meetings or activities have been jointly established by the Union and the Employer), or, for meetings called or agreed to by the Employer (where such Union representatives are entitled and required to attend the meetings). The Union representative will provide Departmental Management with as much notice as is possible in advance of such absences. Release time must have the advance approval of Departmental Management and be consistent with operational needs.

The College will grant AFSCME local union officers reasonable time off with pay, for attendance at grievance meetings, labor/management meetings, committee meetings and activities if such meetings or activities have been jointly established by AFSMCE and the College, or meetings called or agreed to by the College. Other than in cases of an emergency, the AFSCME Local Union officer must provide notice of not less than two (2) workdays to his/her supervisor in advance of such absences, provided these absences are in no way detrimental to the staffing needs and operation of the employee's department.

Employees shall, after giving reasonable prior notice to their supervisor, be allowed reasonable time-off with pay during work hours to attend grievance investigations and hearings, or meetings called or agreed to by the employer if such employees are entitled to attend such meetings by virtue of being a Union representative, xxxxxxx, witness or grievant. Employees released under this article shall be required to sign out when leaving the work area and return to work immediately after the conclusion of the union business and report to their immediate supervisor.
Union Activity During Work Hours. The Union, its bargaining unit members, and its agents will conduct all Union business on non- work time, except as provided in the Grievance Procedure, and except as mutually agreed.

Employees shall, with approval of the Employer, after giving appropriate notice to their Director of Public Works, be allowed to attend grievance hearings and other activities of such nature if established by this contract, if such employees are entitled or required to attend such meetings by virtue of being Union representatives or participants in grievance hearings. Such incidents must relate to disciplinary action of an employee and not be an unreasonable interference with the Employer operations.

A Union representative may leave his/her work location to investigate, file, process grievances, or attend grievance hearings, labor-management meetings, or meetings called or agreed to by the Employer, after first notifying and receiving prior approval from his/her supervisor or designee. Approval of such attendance shall be consistent with the Employer’s operating needs. The Employer reserves the right to require reasonable documentation in time spent in the aforementioned activities. The Union xxxxxxx at each facility or work location shall be allowed time off to attend certified stewards training one (1) work day for the term of this agreement. Approval to attend such meeting shall be consistent with the Employer’s operating needs. The employee shall provide proof of attendance.

Union activities required to administer this Agreement may be carried out during working hours provided the approval of the Division Commander is obtained beforehand and the activities are carried out in such a manner as not to interfere with Police Department activities.
