When an employee is elected as the Union's President or First Vice-president (Provincially)the Union will immediatelyfollowing such election advise the Employer of the name of the employee so elected. The Hospital will bill the Union and the Union will reimburse the Hospital within a reasonable period of time. In addition, there shall be no loss of seniority during such leaves of absence.

Immediate family, for the purposes of this section, shall mean spouse, child, parent, sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and grandparent of spouse. Union Position Leave. The Board shall grant a leave of absence with accrual of seniority upon application of any employee who accepts a position with a local, international union, federated union bodies, and government and civic organizations provided, however, that such employee makes annual application for annual extension during the last thirty (30) days of each year of such leave of absence and provided further that upon returning to work such employee must be able, after a physical examination on the request of the Board, to perform the work of the job to which he is returning or to such other job as he might be capable of performing. The employee may bump the regular employee with the lowest seniority. Leaves totaling thirty (30) working days or less in any one school year shall not be subject to the preceding sentence.

Employees elected to a Union position or selected by the Union, not to exceed one at any one time, to do work which takes them from their employment with the Employer, shall, upon written request from the Union stating the purpose of the leave, receive temporary leaves of absence without pay for periods of not less than three (3) months nor more than two (2) years, renewable by mutual agreement at the end of the initial leave and, upon their return, shall be reemployed with accumulated seniority.

Union Position Leave. Any seniority employee elected or appointed to a full-time position in the local Union or National Union will be granted a leave of absence. A written request for such a leave of absence must be presented to the Employer at least four (4) weeks in advance of when the leave of absence is to commence, except in cases of emer- gency. Employees who are granted a leave pursuant to this will have their seniority accrue while on such leave. Otherwise such leaves are without pay or benefits, except the Employer will continue to provide benefits and contributions to someone elected to a full-time position in the local Union and will bill the Union monthly for reimbursement.
Union Position Leave. Upon request by the Union, leave of absence with pay and benefits shall be granted to an employee elected as an Executive Board Member or an Executive Officer of OPSEU for the purpose of conducting the business affairs of OPSEU. OPSEU shall reimburse the Employer for all salary and benefits including the Employer's contributions to the pension plan on behalf of the employee.
