Use of Sick Leave for Family Members. A unit member who qualifies for sick leave under this section of the contract is entitled to use his/her available sick leave, in an amount not less than the sick leave that would be accrued during six months at the employee’s current rate of entitlement, to attend to an illness of a child, parent, spouse, or domestic partner of the unit member. All conditions and restrictions placed by the employer on the use of sick leave shall apply. For purposes of this section, “child,” “parent,” and “sick leave” shall be defined pursuant to section 233 of the California Labor Code. “Domestic partner” shall be defined pursuant to section 297 of the California Family Code. Nothing in this section shall be interpreted to grant any rights inconsistent with the Labor Code.

Use of Sick Leave for Family Members. Employees Eligible to Use Sick Leave for the Care of Relatives Per MN Statute 181.9413 The use of accumulated sick leave to care for an ill or injured family member is governed by Minnesota law and not by this Agreement. The school district may require an employee to furnish a medical certificate from a qualified physician as evidence of the illness in order to qualify for sick leave pay. Employees Not Eligible to Use Sick Leave for the Care of Relatives Per MN Statute 181.941 An employee may request up to two (2) days paid sick leave for absence due to the illness of spouse, adult child, or parent including any step or xxxxxx relative in the same relationship with the employee. After the utilization of those two (2) days, an employee will have deducted two days of sick leave for each absence due to the sickness of a spouse, adult child or parent. These absences must be approved by the Director of Human Resources. No more than ten (10) days of sick leave may be taken for this purpose per fiscal year.

Use of Sick Leave for Family Members. In accordance with state law (RCW 49.12.270 and Chapter 296-130 WAC), employees may use sick leave to care for their children, parents, spouses, siblings, parents-in-law, grandparents, and other dependents living in the home with a serious health condition, or for a child under the age of eighteen who requires treatment or supervision. Employees may also be entitled to additional unpaid leave for family members with serious health conditions under the state or federal Family Medical Leave Act.
Use of Sick Leave for Family Members. Accrued sick leave may be used when necessary for attendance upon any member of the employee’s immediate family who is ill. For purposes of this section, the immediate family shall be deemed to include the employee’s spouse, child, stepchild, legal xxxx, grandchild, xxxxxx child, father or mother (including step-parents), legal guardian, grandfather, grandmother, brother or sister (including step-siblings), father-in-law, mother-in-law, domestic partner, and other relative residing in the employee’s household. An employee taking leave to care for a family member may choose whether to use paid sick leave as authorized above or to use unpaid leave as authorized by Articles 19 and 20 of this Agreement, or to use a combination of such leaves.

Use of Sick Leave for Family Members. An employee may use accrued sick leave for attendance upon the employee's family member who is ill or requires preventative care. A family member means any of the following: (1) A child (biological, adopted or xxxxxx child), stepchild, legal xxxx, or a child to whom the employee stands in loco parentis. This definition of child is applicable regardless of age or dependency status. (2) A biological, adoptive, or xxxxxx parent, stepparent, or legal guardian of an employee or the employee’s spouse or registered domestic partner, or a person who stood in loco parentis when the employee was a minor child. (3) A spouse. (4) A registered domestic partner. (5) A grandparent. (6) A grandchild.
