Visitation Day. A candidate shall, if possible, spend at least one visitation day in his/her prospective school or department before being hired.
Visitation Day. The Board encourages teachers to visit other schools and teachers to gain better understanding of methods and as a means of in-service education. This provision permits a teacher one (1) day per year to visit other schools for the purpose of observing the work of an outstanding teacher or to attend a professional conference, meeting, or workshop, which is directly related to the teacher’s assignment. Requests must be completed in our current absence management system; permission is to be obtained from both the principal and the Superintendent or his/her designee at least five (5) days prior to the effective date of the visitation. The payment of expenses is not part of the Agreement, but the substitute teacher’s salary will be paid by the school district. The day will not be deducted from available sick leave or from personal business leave.
Visitation Day. The Board may allow one (1) day each year for visitation day. The arrangements must be made with the Principal at least ten (10) days in advance of the expected visitation date. Teachers should be professional in making their contact with the school involved. The teacher may be asked to make a report, either written or oral to their building at the next faculty meeting.
Visitation Day. The Board, recognizing the value of professional improvement through selected visitations to other schools and programs, will allow time for this purpose. This visiting or professional time will be at the discretion of the Administration and must be implemented by proper prior arrangements with both local and outside school administration. A report of a visit and its significant points or possible benefits shall be furnished to the department chairperson and administration subsequent to the visit. The form and scope of the report are to be determined by the person to whom the report is made.
Visitation Day. 14.3.1 The County Office shall provide up to a total of twenty-five (25) days to the bargaining unit per fiscal year for the purpose of in-service education, which may be used to visit other programs, agencies, or to attend program-related conferences.
14.3.2 The procedure for such assignment shall be as follows:
14.3.2.1 The employee submits a written request for a visitation day to the Program Manager.
14.3.2.2 The employee shall be notified of this decision within ten (10) working days after submission of the request.
14.3.2.3 If the request is not approved, the employee may request that the County Office provide the reasons for the nonapproval of the request. The County Office’s decisions regarding visitation days shall not be grievable.
Visitation Day. Teachers, upon written request to the building principal and with the approval of the Superintendent may be granted one day per year to visit schools other than their own for the purpose of improving instruction. Requests for visits shall be submitted five days prior to the visit.
Visitation Day. A teacher shall be allowed one day per year without loss of pay to be used to visit other schools for the purpose of observing methods and practices of instruction. The choice of day and school visited must have approval of the Principal and Superintendent by using the forms available in each Principal's office well ahead of the day being requested. Additional days may be given at the request of the Administration. A written report of all visits shall be made to the Principal and Superintendent. Mileage and meal expense will be paid by the Board.
Visitation Day. 1. One (1) day per teacher contract year is granted to the teacher to observe, by visitation, good instructional practices in other schools. Said visitation day may not be taken after April 23 of each school year.
a. The teacher's request for a visitation day is submitted to the principal for approval; the principal may request a teacher to have a visitation day.
b. The teacher is reimbursed for visitation expenses providing the visitation day was requested by a school supervisor or administrator.
c. This provision does not apply to temporary contract teachers.
2. The above provision shall not apply to school nurses; however, said employees shall have time available to allow them to provide assistance to, or to observe other Health Services professionals within the District with prior approval from the nurse practitioner and building principal. Visitation outside the District may be granted by the Health Services Coordinator.
I. PROFESSIONAL CONFERENCE
1. The Board of Education recognizes the importance of improving the professional and administrative functions of a staff member through his/her attendance at a professional meeting in his/her respective field.
2. A request for a staff member's attendance at a professional meeting may be approved by the Superintendent of Schools upon the recommendation of an appropriate administrator.
3. Expenses considered germane to attendance that may be reimbursed by the Board of Education are:
a. Registration
b. Travel
c. Lodging
d. Meals
e. Gratuities
f. Miscellaneous, as itemized
4. A staff member who requests attendance at a professional meeting in his/her field of teaching and pays his/her own expenses may be permitted to attend without loss in pay providing a suitable substitute teacher is procured.
5. A staff member who is invited on an honorarium basis to attend a professional meeting for the purpose of being a participant on the official program does so with loss of pay and without expense reimbursement.
a. When appearance on a program is incidental to attendance at a professional meeting in the teacher's field, the teacher pays his/her expenses but does not lose pay.
Visitation Day. Each teacher shall be allowed a minimum of one (1) released day per school year to be used as a day of visitation in another school district, to observe new teaching styles, techniques and materials, and to share professional ideas and expertise with other members of the educational profession. Additional days may be allowed with the approval of the Principal.
Visitation Day. To encourage innovation, etc., one day a year may be used by a regular teacher to visit another classroom. The Board will pay mileage and a substitute for that day. Should total mileage exceed 150 miles, it will be necessary to receive prior approval.
