Voluntary Reduction in Hours. Appointing Authorities may allow employee(s) to take unpaid leaves of absence to reduce layoffs otherwise necessary. If it is necessary to limit the number of employees in a work unit on unpaid leave at the same time, the Appointing Authority shall determine whether conflicts shall be resolved among classes or within a particular class based upon staffing needs. In either event, leave shall be granted on the basis of State Seniority within the employee's work unit. Such employees taking leaves of absence under this Section shall continue to accrue vacation and sick leave and be eligible for paid holidays and insurance benefits as if the employees had been actually employed during the time of leave. If a leave of absence is for one (1) full pay period or longer, any holiday pay shall be included in the first payroll period warrant after return from the leave of absence. Upon return from leave, the employee shall return to his/her former position.
Voluntary Reduction in Hours. The assignment of an employee in a full-time (forty [40] hours per week) position to a four-fifths time (thirty-two [32] hours per week) position upon the request of the employee.

1. an existing or projected budget deficit exists;
2. granting an unpaid leave of absence would alleviate the projected budget deficit;
3. staffing needs can continue to be met; and
4. other unpaid leaves of absence, other than personal leave, are not applicable to the situation. A supervisor taking a leave of absence under this Article shall continue to accrue vacation and sick leave and be eligible for paid holidays and insurance benefits as if the supervisor had been actually employed during the time of leave. If a leave of absence is for one (1) full pay period or longer, any holiday pay shall be included in the first payroll period warrant after return from the leave of absence.

2. Granting an unpaid leave of absence would help alleviate the projected budget problem;
3. Staffing needs can continue to be met; and
4. Other unpaid leaves of absence, other than personal leave, are not applicable to the situation. If it is necessary to limit the number of teachers in a work unit on unpaid leave at the same time, leave shall be granted on the basis of state seniority.
Voluntary Reduction in Hours. The Appointing Authority may allow an employee(s) to take an unpaid leave(s) of absence or reduce their hours, if the Appointing Authority determines that the following conditions are met:
1. an existing or projected budget problem exists;
2. granting an unpaid leave of absence would help alleviate the projected budget problem and/or help mitigate layoffs as per Article 17 (Layoff and Recall), Section 2 (Labor- Management Cooperation);
3. staffing needs can continue to be met; and
4. other unpaid leaves of absence, other than personal leave, are not applicable to the situation. Employees taking leaves of absence under this Article shall continue to accrue vacation and sick leave and be eligible for paid holidays and insurance benefits equivalent to what the employee would earn if he/she had not voluntarily reduced their hours or taken an unpaid leave. If a leave of absence is for one (1) full pay period or longer, any holiday pay shall be included in the first payroll period warrant after return from the leave of absence.
Voluntary Reduction in Hours. The reduction in the number of assigned hours for a particular position because of lack of work or lack of funds. A position may be reduced if:
15.1.2.1 A position is being reduced and the employee voluntarily accepts the reduction in hours.
15.1.2.2 A position is being reduced and the position is vacant.
Voluntary Reduction in Hours. Voluntary reduction in hours is employee consent to a reduction of hours of assignment to a lower classification in lieu of involuntary reduction in hours.
Voluntary Reduction in Hours a. The County may, as an alternative to, or in conjunction with a layoff, call for volunteers, from amongst the members of the class in the department in which layoff is contemplated, to work reduced hours in lieu of the deletion of a full-time position.
b. Approval of requests for part-time employment lies within the discretion of the appointing authority. Once a request for part-time employment is approved, the employee will be assigned to part-time employment as soon as is administratively feasible. A volunteer so assigned may not be involuntarily returned to full-time status any earlier than ninety (90) days following such assignment and may continue in a part-time position beyond the ninety-day period as long as the employee and the appointing authority mutually agree.
Voluntary Reduction in Hours a. No less than fourteen (14) calendar days prior to the date the reduced-in- hours positions are effective, notice of the County's decision to establish such four-fifths time positions in lieu of full-time positions shall be given, by posting on departmental bulletin boards, to supervisors in the affected class and department. No less than seven (7) calendar days prior to the date the reduced-in-hours positions are effective, full-time supervisors in the class and department may request assignment to the four-fifths time positions. Subject to the provisions of Subsection b., supervisors in the class and department, who so volunteer in writing, shall be assigned to four-fifths time positions on the basis of seniority.
b. At the discretion of the appointing authority, a certain number of volunteer supervisors shall not be entitled to assignment to a four-fifths time position on the basis of seniority. The number of volunteer supervisors in a classification which the appointing authority may except from a four-fifths assignment shall not exceed twenty percent (20%) of the number of volunteers initially accepted for the four-fifths positions (rounded to the next highest number) that have been established in lieu of full-time positions.
c. A permanent supervisor who has been voluntarily reduced-in-hours in a class and department shall, within fourteen (14) calendar days of the supervisor's request, be placed (in order of seniority) on a return to full-time employment list for that class and department. Said request must be in writing and personally filed with the appointing authority and the Director of Personnel Services.
