Waiver Days. When the district schedules waiver days in full day increments, the food service and transportation department bargaining unit members will schedule their waiver day outside the scheduled student year, with supervisor approval.
Waiver Days. In an effort to improve learning and meet school improvement plans, the use of waiver day(s) shall be determined by the entire staff and building principal in accordance with State Board of Education waiver allowance.
Waiver Days. The District may apply for one or more basic education waivers under RCW 28A.300.750. When procured waivers are for professional development any subsequent plans must comply with and closely align with the approved waiver application, the requirements of WAC 000-00-000, and all other applicate statutes and requirements, key among them being the following:
A. The purpose and goals of the district’s waiver plan are closely aligned with school improvement plans under WAC 000-00-000 and any district improvement plan;
B. The plan explains goals of the waiver related to student achievement that are specific, measurable, and attainable;
C. The plan states clear and specific activities to be undertaken that are based in evidence and likely to lead to attainment of the stated goals;
D. The plan specifies at least one state or locally determined assessment or metric that will be used to collect evidence to show the degree to which the goals were attained;
E. The plan describes in detail the participation of administrators, teachers, other district staff, parents, and the community in the development of the plan;
F. The plan summarizes how the district considered equity in the development of the plan. This may include, but is not limited to, an equity analysis, community feedback, or other means to assess the consequences of the waiver.
Waiver Days. The Board and GEA may mutually agree to schedule up to two (2) waiver days for professional development. GEA District Leadership Team members will be consulted regarding the structure, planning, and content of waiver day activities. Employees who are unable to attend will have the content of waiver day activities and/or any materials made available to them. All employees will be responsible for the content of waiver day activities.
Waiver Days. Prior to any state-granted waiver day(s), the Teaching and Learning teams at each building will design the nature of the work to be done and structure the use of time to include no less than three (3) hours of collaboration time. When planning collaborative work does not directly involve specialists or Educational Staff Associates, principals will align the instruction of the day so the individuals within those groups may work with job-alike colleagues from other buildings.
Waiver Days. Waiver days (professional development days) that occur during a school year will be considered work days.
Waiver Days. 28 In the event that the school district is not approved by the State Board of Education for 29 Waiver Days, the District is not obligated to continue these training days, however, the former 30 Waiver Days will revert to regular work days. 32 For the 2009-10 and 2010-11 school years, five (5) Waiver Days will be applied for each of the 33 years shown above. Training, as appropriate, will be provided on Waiver Days. Should 34 employees choose not to participate in training on these Waiver Days, they will be allowed to 35 work their regular work shift at their regular work site, take unpaid leave without pay, and/or 36 accept field trips on the waiver day. 37 38 This is the new Transportation Assistant section as noted back in Section 7.0
Waiver Days. During the term of this Agreement, the District and the Union agree to a collaborative process to deal with the voluntary and /or mandatory assignment of work for non-student waiver days.
Waiver Days. Should an employee elect not to attend on a scheduled waiver day, the employee shall have the option of using a personal day, and sick day with an excuse, or take the day as unpaid leave. This provision does not apply to 12 month employees.
Waiver Days. For the 2009-10 school year, there will be four (4) student waiver days in accordance with the following:
a. The days shall be scheduled for September 2 and 3, January 4, and June 18.
b. The use of the time on September 3 and one-half the time on September 2, January 4, and June 18 shall be determined by the employee. The use of the other half on September 2, January 4, and June 18 will be determined by the Building Leadership Team within the guidelines of the District’s waiver application.
c. The employee directed time shall include but is not necessarily limited to the following: conferencing with parents as determined by the employee, researching educational materials and supplies, preparation and revision of materials, planning with other staff in areas of instruction and curriculum, and/or working with computers and other technology as related to educational issues. The above employee directed activities are agreed to be within the guidelines of the District’s waiver application.
