Xxxx Leave PoolIn the event that a unit member has been subject to unnecessary hardship as a result of illness caused by sickness, accident, etc., the Superintendent shall exercise the following policy: A sick leave pool, consisting of 200 days per school year, shall be made available by the Board to members making application therefore, for the purpose of extending the number of sick days allowed to such unit member, subject to the following: --A committee composed of three (3) faculty members appointed each September by the President of the Federation and three (3) Board and/or administration personnel, or a combination appointed by the Superintendent, shall administer the sick leave pool. --As soon as practical after appointment, the joint committee shall establish and make known to the unit members, rules and regulations to govern the procedures to be followed by the committee so as to establish so far as possible, a uniform course of conduct.
Xxxx Leave Pool. 1. Each employee who wishes to become a member of the sick leave pool shall contribute one (1) day of ten (10) for school year employees and one (1) day of twelve (12) for year round employees of annual entitlement of sick leave to the sick leave pool on September 1 of each year. This contribution shall reduce the school year employee's annual entitlement to nine (9) days and the year round employee's annual entitlement to eleven (11) days. The maximum number of days in the pool allowed shall be one hundred twenty-five (125) days. When a participant uses up accumulated sick leave, the participant may draw on the sick leave pool. Any days remaining in the pool at the end of the year shall be carried forward up to the amount necessary to increase individual employee sign-up total to the aforesaid one hundred twenty-five (125) days. The Superintendent shall provide the Association with an annual report of days carried forward. 2. Withdrawals from the sick leave pool become subject to review by the Executive Board of the Association. 3. Sick leave days contributed to the pool may not be withdrawn if the member at a later date leaves the employ of the Board or wishes to withdraw membership from the pool. 4. Members who, because of a period of illness, have exhausted their accumulated personal sick leave, and have waited three (3) days, may make application to the sick leave pool according to the following conditions: a. The member must have been ill and absent from work without pay for at least three (3) consecutive school days. Reimbursement will be retroactive to the first day. b. The number of days a participant is eligible to draw from the sick leave pool is equal to four (4) times the participant's accumulated personal sick leave, provided that the total is not more than the total number of days remaining in the pool. Accumulated sick leave will be determined at the beginning of each month prior to the extended illness, not to be less than one (1) day.
Xxxx Leave Pool. Full-time faculty members who have completed one full year of employment and have at least ten (10) days (seventy hours) of accrued sick leave at the time of the enrollment period for the Pool are eligible to voluntarily participate in the College’s Sick Leave Pool. Participating faculty members shall contribute both initially and at any time replenishment of the Pool is required. Use of the Sick Leave Pool shall be limited to the individual employee’s personal illness, accident or injury and shall be subject to the exhaustion of all other earned sick leave. Use of the Sick leave Pool shall, at all times, be contingent upon availability of sick leave days in the Pool. Participating faculty members who resign, retire, or terminate employment, or choose to cancel membership in the Sick Leave Pool shall not be eligible to withdraw any sick leave days that have been contributed to the Pool.   • Sick Leave Pool The purpose of the emergency sick leave pool is to furnish additional sick days for certified staff under the negotiated agreement. This leave can only be used during the school year after the teacher has exhausted all regular accumulated sick leave and discretionary leave. Leave will be granted for catastrophic illness or injury of the employee only, on a first-come, first-ask basis. The emergency sick leave pool will be funded by the days certified staff has over the 80-day maximum sick leave this is given to each employee on July 1 of each year. All days over the 80-day accumulated sick leave the employees receive will be put into an emergency sick leave pool with an accumulation not to exceed 80 days for the pool. The maximum number of emergency sick leave pool days that may be accumulated during the school year is 20 days. A written application along with a physician’s statement documenting the nature of the catastrophic illness or injury must be sent to the building principal. The Emergency Sick Leave Pool Committee will meet within 10 calendar days after receiving the application to consider the request. The application may be sent to the building principal before the employee’s regular sick leave ends. The Emergency Sick Leave Pool Committee will consist of six members. One member from each of the four schools (“Primary, Intermediate, Middle, and High School”) the Superintendent and the building principal from the building of the applicant. All members will meet to determine ach request; however, the committee member representing the same building as the applicant will not vote. The building principal and superintendent will vote in all cases. The committee members will serve for a period of two years. The Primary and Middle School members will be elected on even calendar years and the Intermediate and the High School members will be elected on odd calendar years. If a member of the committee leaves the employment of the USD 210 before the end of his/her term, the committee will appoint a new committee member form the affected building. The committee members will be in place by September 1 of each year. The emergency sick leave bank may not be used to cover employees who are receiving pay, salary protection payments, and disability insurance payments or are eligible to receive compensation from workers’ compensation or KPERS disability.

  • Annual Leave Loading During a period of annual leave an employee will receive a loading of 17.5 per cent calculated on the employee’s normal hourly rate of pay and the daily fares allowance if applicable. The loading will also apply to proportionate leave on lawful termination.

  • Vacation Leave Maximum Employees may accumulate maximum vacation leave balances not to exceed two hundred and forty (240) hours. However, there are two (2) exceptions that allow vacation leave to accumulate above the maximum: A. If an employee’s request for vacation leave is denied by the Employer, and the employee is close to the vacation leave maximum, the Employer will grant an extension for each month that the Employer must defer the employee’s request for vacation leave. B. An employee may also accumulate vacation leave days in excess of two hundred and forty (240) hours as long as the employee uses the excess balance prior to his or her anniversary date. Any leave in excess of the maximum that is not deferred in advance of its accrual as described above, will be lost on the employee’s anniversary date.

  • Maternity Leave Allowance ‌ (a) An employee who qualifies for maternity leave pursuant to Clause 21.1, shall be paid a maternity leave allowance in accordance with the Supplemental Employment Benefit (SEB) Plan. In order to receive this allowance, the employee must provide to the Employer, proof that she has applied for and is eligible to receive employment insurance benefits pursuant to the Employment Insurance Act. An employee disentitled or disqualified from receiving employment insurance benefits is not eligible for maternity leave allowance. (b) Pursuant to the Supplemental Employment Benefit (SEB) Plan, the maternity leave allowance will consist of 15 weekly payments equivalent to the difference between the employment insurance gross benefits and any other earnings received by the employee and 85% of the employee's basic pay.

  • Vacation Leave Accrual ‌ After a full-time employee has been in pay status for eighty (80) non-overtime hours in a calendar month, the employee will accrue vacation leave according to the rate schedule below. Vacation leave accrual for part-time employees will be proportionate to the number of hours the part-time employee is in pay status during the month to that required for full-time employment.

  • Sick Leave Usage 1. Sick leave may be used by an employee when sick, injured, or quarantined. Also sick leave may be used on the occasion of an illness in the employee's family, where a need can be shown. 2. In computing compensation payable for sick leave, the compensation paid shall be the amount the employee would earn during the sick leave period if working at their current rate of pay and work schedule without the inclusion of overtime earnings.

  • Approved Leave of Absence During Vacation Where it can be established by the employee through a doctor's certificate that an illness or accident occurred, or where an employee qualifies for bereavement or any other approved leave during his/her period of vacation, there shall be no deduction from vacation credits for such absence. The period of vacation so displaced shall either be added to the vacation or reinstated for use at a later date, at the employee's option, as mutually agreed.

  • Approved Leave of Absence With Pay During Vacation When an employee is qualified for bereavement leave, sick leave or any other approved leave with pay during her vacation period, there shall be no deduction from the vacation credits for such leave. In the case of sick leave, this section shall only apply when the period of illness or injury is in excess of two (2) days and a note from a physician may be required. The period of vacation so displaced shall be taken at a mutually agreed time. An employee intending to claim displaced vacation leave must advise the Employer and provide necessary documentation within seven (7) days of returning to work.

  • Military Leave of Absence Upon application, a military leave of absence without pay will be granted to employees who are inducted through Selective Service or voluntary enlistment, or those called through membership in the National Guard or reserve component into the Armed Forces of the United States. Credited service for military service shall be determined by the retirement plan.
