The policy and procedures shall be part of the nurse’s health and safety policy and written copies shall be provided to each nurse at time of hire. Prior to implementing any changes to these policies, the Employer agrees to consult with the Union and the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).

In compliance with The Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, the Employer(s) will ensure a policy is developed, in consultation with the Local of the Union and other Unions in the Regional Health Authority to address the prevention of violence, the management of violent situations and to work towards the elimination of the causal factors of violence and provide support to Employees who have faced violence. The policies and procedures shall be part of the Employer(s)’ health and safety policy and written copies shall be posted in a place accessible to all Employees. The employer agrees to conduct initial and ongoing risk assessments of the workplace in consultation with the Joint Health and Safety Committee. The employer will provide a written copy of the risk assessments to the Joint Health and Safety Committee.

The policy and procedure(s) shall be part of the Employer health and safety program and written copies shall be posted or made available in policy manuals in a place accessible to all employees.

Discussions and concerns about security measures and the management of specific incidents are also subjects for Hospital Association Committee meetings.
