Accumulative Sick Leave Part-Time. Sick leave privileges for part-time employees will be as follows: Prorated as part-time hours bear to full-time, a part-time employee shall: At the commencement of the fourth month of continuous employment shall be credited with up to three (3) days sick leave with pay. Thereafter such employee shall be credited with up to one (1) day’s sick leave with pay for each additional month of continuous employment until completion of one (1) year of continuous employment. After completing one (1) year of continuous employment, an employee shall be credited with up to one and one-half days of sick leave with pay for each additional month. At the end of each year of continuous employment, the unused portion of an employee’s sick leave for that year shall accumulate, the maximum accumulation in any one year being eighteen (18) days of sick leave and the maximum total accumulation for any one employee being one hundred fifty (150) days of sick leave. It is agreed that any accumulated sick leave credits due to an employee prior to the execution of this Agreement shall be continued to be allowed and recognized in computing the maximum accumulation of one hundred and fifty (150) days. Absence due to illness or injury, compensable by the Workers’ Compensation board, shall not be charged against sick leave credits or entitlements. Absence due to illness in any year shall be charged to the accumulated sick leave reserve credited to the employee concerned on the basis of one (1) sick leave credit for each sick day with pay until credits are used up. As credits are used up they may again accumulate to the maximum. A part-time employee will not lose any accrued sick leave days in their sick bank when they transfer to full-time but will be subject to Article Such transferred employee will be allowed to utilize sick days accrued as part-time to top up benefits available as full-time. A full-time employee who transfers to part-time will no longer be covered under but will commence accumulating sick leave credits in accordance with this Article. In addition, if the employee had a sick leave bank under Article they would be entitled to draw upon that bank if necessary. A part-time employee’s sick leave credits accumulated prior to December will be circled” and will not be used until sick leave subsequently accumulated has been exhausted.
