Assignment of Additional Hours. If additional hours are assigned to a specific program or position type, employees in a like position that is less than full time and whose schedule can accommodate the additional hours will be offered the additional hours in order of their seniority. If no employee in a like position can or will accept the additional hours, the hours first will be offered in seniority order to other employees at the College whose schedule can accommodate the assignment and who are qualified for the assignment as determined by the College. If hours designated to specific positions or position types are reduced, the least senior employee(s) shall be the first to be affected unless such reduction is due to a College reduction-in-force or layoff which would be implemented under the provisions of Article 18 Xxxxxx and Recall.

Those interested shall notify the principal/program manager of such interest. The additional time will be offered first to the employee in the affected program/classroom and then, second to employees in the building preference pool and third to the employee with the most building/workgroup seniority provided that person is qualified and available and student and program needs are met. Time assigned through this procedure shall not be considered continuing hours for the purpose of assigning hours for the coming school year if such time is assigned after October 15th, assigned due to a class size remedy, or other conditions of a temporary nature. This provision shall not apply if such time is assigned from the building preference pool.
