Association Official Leave. Upon application, an unpaid leave of absence without benefits shall be granted to any Bargaining Unit Member for the purpose of serving in an Association elective office at the state or national level. To the extent that reimbursement is made by PSEA or NEA, the leave shall be with pay and benefits, at no cost to the District. Such leave shall be for a period of time not less than the full term of the office held. Said leave may not be terminated early by the Bargaining Unit Member except for emergency situations, upon written notice to the employer. Upon expiration or termination of leave, the Bargaining Unit Member shall be returned to the same or comparable position, at the same or comparable work site, as that held previously. All rights and benefits accrued prior to the leave of absence shall be restored to the Bargaining Unit Member. Seniority shall accrue during the period of the leave.

Association Official Leave. Upon application, an unpaid leave of absence shall be granted to any employee in the bargaining unit for the purpose of serving in an Association elective office at the state or national level. Such leave shall be for a period of time not exceeding two (2) years. Said leave of absence may be terminated at any time by the employee upon written notice to the employer. Upon expiration or termination of leave, the employee shall be returned to the same position in the same building as that held previously. The employee shall be placed on the Salary Schedule at the step which would have been appropriate had such leave never been taken. All other rights and benefits shall be restored to the employee as fully as if such leave had never been taken. Seniority shall accrue during the period of leave.

  • Association Leave The Association shall be allowed to use up to 5 days of leave each school year for use by teachers who are officers or agents of the Association. The Association shall reimburse Unified School District 434 for the loss of use of the teacher taking such leave by paying the daily cost of a substitute teacher. The Association shall notify the Superintendent not less than 5 calendar days in advance of using such leave.

  • Association Leaves 1. The Board will provide the Association President or their designee with forty (40) days of paid release time during the course of the school year in order to conduct Association Business. The Association shall reimburse the Board for the cost of any substitute required as the result of any such released time which exceeds forty (40) days during the course of the school year. 2. The following provisions were not bargained and have been included for informational purposes only: a. Because of the many responsibilities imposed on the President of the Association, and in order to enhance the quality of instruction in the classes taught by him or her and maintain continuity, the Board will provide the building to which the President is assigned with a full-time aide who is also a certified substitute teacher. b. The building principal and the President will work out a mutually agreed upon schedule for the use of the aide. c. The presence of this aide will not be used to justify absences in excess of those authorized by the terms of this Agreement.

  • Judicial Leave In the event an employee is summoned to serve as a juror, or required to appear as a witness in court for the District, or is named as a co-defendant with the District, the employee will be granted leave with pay for each day of required presence in court; provided, however, that any compensation received for service shall be remitted to the District.

  • Civil Leave A. A bargaining unit member subpoenaed to appear in court for a work-related matter or serve on jury duty shall be granted leave without loss of pay. A copy of the court summons, subpoena, or letter from the court requesting the bargaining unit member’s presence must be submitted to administration. B. When a bargaining unit member is scheduled to be absent and such appearance in court is negated or the bargaining unit member is excused in such time to return to his/her work site for the remainder of his/her workday, then he/she is required to do so.

  • Federation Leave A leave of absence for the president and a second position of the Federation shall be granted to any employee covered by this Agreement upon application by the Federation for the purpose of the employee serving as an officer of the Federation. The District shall continue to pay such employee(s) and provide benefits, with the exception of leave benefits, but will be reimbursed by the Federation for the cost of salary and fringe benefits. Upon return from such leaves, an employee shall proceed on the salary schedule as if s/he had been employed with the District each year of the leave. The Federation agrees to consider carefully each request for release time for Federation members. Although leaves for short terms without loss of pay may be granted upon approval by the Office of the Superintendent, the Federation shall reimburse the District for the cost of salaries and fringe benefits.

  • Family Medical Leave (a) An employee is entitled to family medical leave in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act. (b) An employee who is on Family Medical Leave shall continue to accumulate seniority and service and the Home will continue to pay its share of the premiums of the subsidized employee benefits, including pension (if permitted by the Plan and matched by the employee) in which the employee is participating during the leave. (c) Subject to any changes in an employee’s status which would have occurred had he or she not been on Family Medical Leave, the employee shall be reinstated to her former position.

  • Legal Leave 1The University shall grant leave of absence with pay to a member of faculty who is called to serve as a juror or a witness in a court of law in a matter in which he/she is not a party or an accused.

  • Political Leave Any employee who is a declared candidate for public office shall have the right to a leave of absence without pay for a reasonable period to campaign for the election. Such leave is subject to the conditions governing special leaves of absence without pay contained herein.

  • Special Leave The Employer, in any one year, may grant to an Employee: (a) special leave without pay for such a period as it deems circumstances warrant; (b) special leave with pay for reasons other than those covered by 19.02 to 19.11 inclusive, for such period as it deems circumstances warrant.

  • General Leave Notwithstanding any provision for leave in this Agreement, the Employer may grant a leave of absence without pay to an employee requesting leave for an emergency or other unusual circumstances. A leave of absence may also be granted for any other reason in which case approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. All requests and approvals for leave shall be in writing. Upon request, the Employer will give reasons orally for withholding approval.
