Birthday Holiday. If a member's birthday falls on the day celebrated as another of the holidays mentioned in Section 18.1, the member shall be granted and compensated for one (1) additional holiday for the member's birthday.

Birthday Holiday. A. Employees will be given holiday pay for any observed holiday that they are scheduled to work. Any employee who receives holiday pay will receive an amount of holiday pay that is equivalent to the individual employee’s scheduled hours of work. If an employee is not scheduled to work on the day where the holiday falls, they will receive five (5) hours holiday pay. B. In order to qualify for a holiday pay, the employee must work their scheduled work day which immediately proceeds and their scheduled work day which immediately follows the holiday, except in cases of approved leave. Birthday Holiday. Birthday holidays shall be considered scheduled days off for all purposes, except that an Operator requesting to work the Operator’s assignment for that day shall be paid the Operator’s regular wage rate for working that day. An Operator requesting to work their assignment may elect to have eight (8) hours added to the Operator’s Annual Leave balance or be paid their eight (8) hour holiday pay. An Operator must make the request in writing by 10:00am on the day prior to the day requested.

If the needs of the department require the employee to work, the employee shall have the choice of another day approved by the appointing authority, on which to observe the birthday holiday.
