Bus Assistants. Section 1. All provisions of the Bus Driver's Contract shall apply to Bus Assistants except for the following:
Bus Assistants. Bus assistant shall be guaranteed pay for a minimum of two (2) hours for each noon run. Bus assistants will also continue to be guaranteed time for both the a.m. and p.m. routes. Additional time for each route above the guarantee will be paid at the employee’s regular hourly rate.
Bus Assistants. Bus assistants hired from within the transportation department into the non-CDL driver position, who may for whatever reason become ineligible, must be removed from the route or can no longer operate a non-CDL vehicle, within one year, can return as a bus assistant and be placed back in the seniority order where they vacated the position. Applicants and current employees would be required to meet the current job description and possess the required certification of the Bus Assistant position in order for this to be considered. Bus Assistants. It is recognized that each bus route has unique characteristics and needs. Therefore, the bus assistant shall meet with the driver prior to the beginning of the school year, or in the case of a new bus assistant added to the route, prior to riding the route for the first time. This time shall be used to go over the route needs, expectations for student management and any other concerns the driver may require assistance with. This time shall also be paid up to one (1) hour. Bus assistants shall be paid the bid time of the route including pre and post trip times. The bus assistant shall arrive no less than ten (10) minutes prior to the scheduled departure time, remain five (5) minutes after return, and such time will be used to assist the driver with readying the bus for the run and securing the bus after return.
Bus Assistants. 1. Bus Aides shall not be required to hold a CDL.
2. Bus Aides holding a CDL shall be eligible to bid on field trips for which no bus driver has submitted a bid.
Bus Assistants. A. Seniority will be established among the division of Bus Assistants by the terms expressed elsewhere in this Agreement.
B. After driver selection of routes, the bus assistant will be called by seniority to select a route available for assignment.
C. Bus Assistants will be paid an hourly rate for up to 178 duty days actually worked in accordance with the approved school calendar, plus approved holidays.
D. Bus Assistants will receive at least one (1) week’s advance notice of upcoming COPE and CPR classes and will be provided paid leave to attend such classes when attendance is necessary to maintain required certification standards.
E. The cost of any certificate that may be required to perform the function of a Bus Assistant shall be paid by the Board.
F. On any field trip in which a lift bus is required by reason of a student’s disability, there shall be a Bus Assistant on board. The rate of pay shall be equal to their regular hourly rate.
G. All Bus Assistants will receive a daily guarantee of driving hours at the beginning of each school year. If at any time during the year, the driver’s route time is increased by a minimum of fifteen
Bus Assistants. (1) All buses will have a Bus Assistant. Bus Assistants will be paid from the time of pick up and ending with the return to the pick-up point.
(2) The Board shall provide at least one (1) 2-hour in-service for Bus Assistants.
Bus Assistants. In the event of a reduction-in-force, the employee with the least seniority shall be laid off. An exception to lay-off by seniority shall be made in cases where a bus assistant with greater seniority has been unavailable or has not worked mid-day routes. In these cases, the bus assistant with greater seniority shall be given the option to work mid- day routes or select lay-off prior to bus assistants with less seniority who will work mid-day so that the mid-day routes are covered. Seniority as defined in this paragraph shall be the sole and controlling factor for all lay-offs and re- employments unless specified elsewhere in this Agreement.
Bus Assistants. If lieu of Dental and Vision Insurance – they will receive the following:
Bus Assistants i. The District reserves the right to place its own personnel on special education vehicles to assist these students for physical, emotional, or disciplinary reasons.
ii. Compensation for contracted bus assistants, if requested by the District, will be under the terms established under EXHIBIT A, Rates of Compensation.
