Classroom Visits. Unit Members shall have the option of using one (1) day per year in order to visit another classroom inside or outside the District, with a substitute provided by the District, when acceptable arrangements are made with the principal.
Classroom Visits. (i) In assessing a faculty member's teaching performance the Vice-President, Academic and Research may arrange for classroom visits by an assessor who is a faculty member of Associate rank or higher, and has been chosen with the agreement of the faculty member concerned.
(ii) The purpose of the visits is to assess and report on the faculty member's teaching performance and the assessor may offer suggestions to assist the member in improving teaching performance. Such suggestions, if any, are to be given to the faculty member at an appropriate time subsequent to the visits. Assessors shall arrange with the faculty member concerned a convenient time for the visits.
(iii) The assessor shall prepare a brief report on the classroom visits, which shall be forwarded to the faculty member. The employee shall sign the report to indicate that it has been read and may attach written comment. This signed report, with attached comment if any, shall be placed in the faculty member’s Official Personal File.
Classroom Visits. Credentialed evaluators shall conduct an evaluation of each teacher. Classroom visits for the purpose of evaluation will not be made on the day before Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Spring Break, or the day after a teacher’s absence due to unplanned illness, unplanned personal leave, or an emergency situation. Prior to the first observation of a teacher in his/her first year of employment with the District, an individual pre- observation conference is required. Such conference shall afford to explain the evaluation process and expectations. A teacher receiving an effectiveness rating of “Accomplished” on the teacher’s most recent evaluation will have one (1) formal evaluation every three (3) years which includes a minimum of two (2) observations and periodic walkthroughs once every three (3) years as long as the teacher’s student academic growth measure for the most recent school year for which data is available is average or higher. A teacher receiving a “skilled” rating on the teachers most recent evaluation will have one (1) formal evaluation every two (2) years which includes a minimum of two (2) observations and periodic walkthroughs once every two (2) years as long as the teacher’s student academic growth measure for the most recent school year for which data is available is average or higher. The observations will be neutral and non-participating. The purpose is to record objectively what goes on in the classroom particularly in relation to teacher identified needs and goals. Teachers with approved leaves of absence for fifty percent (50%) or more of the school year, or teachers whose notice of retirement is board approved by December 1 will not be evaluated.
Classroom Visits. Arrangements shall be made with administrators for teachers to visit classrooms within the system and may arrange, if feasible, to visit other school systems as an aid to professional growth and improvement at their grade level and subject matter field.
Classroom Visits. Each Teacher Evaluation Report shall be based on at least three (3), and normally not more than eight (8), comprehensive visits which reflect the teacher’s assignment. The teacher shall have the opportunity to select two (2) classroom visits, which may be included in or in addition to the eight (8). The classroom visits for the purpose of preparing the Teacher Evaluation Report can occur at any time during the school year, recognizing that visits in September, June or during the first twenty (20) teaching days of a change of assignment should occur only in extreme situations. Evaluation visits will not occur just prior to, or immediately after, Christmas, Spring Break or during days in which school-wide events are being staged.
Classroom Visits. (a) One or more members of the Review Committee shall visit the classroom of a Faculty Member under review for the purpose of observation of the Faculty Member’s teaching.
(b) The timing of the classroom visit shall be arranged with the Faculty Member under review.
(c) Following the classroom visit, the member or members of the Review Committee shall submit a written report of their observations to the Review Committee.
(d) The Review Committee reserves the right to waive the requirement for a classroom visit.
Classroom Visits. The policy of the District is to invite parents to be involved in their students’ education and encourage classroom visits. At the beginning of each school year, prior to September 15th, the District will review with employees the policy and procedures regarding classroom visits in order to ensure a safe learning environment.
Classroom Visits. NON-DISTRICT EMPLOYEES To provide non-district employees the opportunity to visit classrooms with the least interruption to the teaching process, the following guidelines are set forth:
1. Non-district employees interested in visiting the classroom must submit a request 24 hours prior to the proposed visitation.
2. Non-district employees may visit classrooms by mutual agreement of the principal and employee after consultation regarding the appropriateness of the visit.
3. An employee shall have the opportunity to confer with a classroom visitor before and/or after the visit, at the employee's option. DISTRICT EMPLOYEE(S) WALK THROUGH District Employee(s) walk-throughs are non-evaluative, and may only be used for general staff development and coaching data collection. To avoid disruption to the instructional process, walk-throughs consisting of four (4) or more people shall be conducted with permission of the employee.

(b) Individual Teacher(s) affected by classroom visits for tours or other demonstration purposes shall be notified, when possible, at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance.
