Compassionate Leave With Pay. Compassionate leave with pay shall be granted to a nurse upon her request: i) attending and/or making arrangements for the funeral of the nurse's spouse (common-law / same gender relationship that has been maintained for at least one year included), child, mother, father, brother, sister, legal guardian, grandparent, grandchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law - up to five (5) days with pay. ii) attending to serious illness (where loss of life may be involved) in the nurse's immediate family namely: spouse (common-law/same gender relationship that has been maintained for at least one year included), legal guardian, parent, child, brother, sister, parent in law - an aggregate of five (5) days with pay per year. Substantiation of a serious illness shall be furnished by the nurse as requested by the Employer. iii) attending and/or making arrangements for the funeral of the nurse's sister-in-law, brother-in-law, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, or spouse’s grandparent - one (1) day with pay. The provision for sister-in-law and brother-in-law shall only apply in cases where there is a current relationship at the time of the death. iv) Compassionate leave with pay shall be limited to their posted and scheduled hours of work on such days. v) The Employer may grant additional days for the any of the above leaves without pay at their sole discretion.

Compassionate Leave With Pay. In the event of serious illness, critical accident, sudden critical family matters in the immediate family requiring the employee’s immediate presence, up to two days leave shall be granted providing the employee is regularly scheduled to work at the time of the incident.
Compassionate Leave With Pay. Based on full-time employment during the school year a Long Term Occasional Teacher shall be eligible for Compassionate Leave without loss of pay, or deductions from sick leave credits as follows: (a) Five (5) consecutive school days, or more at the discretion of the Board, except where spanning a holiday, for the death of a husband, wife, parents or guardian, brother, sister, son or daughter. (b) Three (3) consecutive school days or more at the discretion of the Board, except where spanning a holiday, for the death of a mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter- in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, of the Long Term Occasional Teacher or the spouse and for the death of the guardian of the spouse. (c) One (1) school day, or more at the discretion of the Board, to attend the funeral of an uncle, aunt, niece or nephew of the Long Term Occasional Teacher or spouse. (d) Saturdays and Sundays are not deemed to be holidays in the application of this Article.

Such medical certificate may be requested by the Employer within thirty (30) days of their being notified.

Compassionate Leave With Pay. If, during a period of sick leave or vacation leave, an employee is bereaved in circumstances under which the employee would have been eligible for bereavement leave under this clause, the employee shall be granted compassionate leave and the sick leave or vacation leave credits shall be restored to the extent of any concurrent compassionate leave granted.

  • Compassionate Leave (1) An employee is entitled to take up to 2 days’ paid compassionate leave on each occasion that a member of his or her immediate family or a member of his or her household: (a) contracts or develops an illness that poses a serious threat to his or her life; or (b) sustains an injury that poses a serious threat to his or her life; or

  • Taking compassionate leave An Employee may take compassionate leave for a particular permissible occasion if the leave is taken: (a) to spend time with the member of the Employee’s immediate family or household who has contracted or developed the personal illness, or sustained the personal injury, referred to clause 5. 2.3.1 of this Agreement; or (b) after the death of the member of the Employee’s immediate family or household An Employee may take compassionate leave for a particular permissible occasion as (a) a continuous two (2) day period; or (b) two (2) separate periods of one (1) day each; or (c) any separate periods to which the Employee and the Employer agree. If the permissible occasion is the contraction or development of a personal illness, or the sustaining of a personal injury, the Employee may take the compassionate leave for that occasion at any time while the illness or injury persists.

  • Compassionate Care Leave 1. For the purposes of this article “family member” means:

  • Leave With Pay Compassionate leave of absence with pay shall be granted for three (3) work days. Up to two (2) additional days with pay shall be granted for travelling time when this is warranted in the judgement of the Employer.

  • Examination Leave With Pay At the Employer's discretion, examination leave with pay may be granted to an employee for the purpose of writing an examination which takes place during the employee's scheduled hours of work. Such leave will only be granted where, in the opinion of the Employer, the course of study is directly related to the employee's duties or will improve his or her qualifications.

  • VACATION LEAVE WITH PAY 14.01 The vacation year shall be from April 1st of one calendar year to March 31st of the following calendar year inclusive.
