Compensation While on Sabbatical Leave. 8.8.6.1 A unit member while on a full school year sabbatical leave shall receive fifty percent (50%) of the contracted salary he/she would have received had he/she been serving in his/her regular assignment in the District. 8.8.6.2 A unit member on a full one (1) semester leave shall receive fifty percent (50%) of the contracted salary he/she would have received had he/she been in his/her regular assignment in the District. 8.8.6.3 The salary granted the unit member on leave may be paid in either of two ways: a. The salary may be paid in two (2) equal annual installments during the first two (2) years of service rendered in the employment of the Board following the return of the employee from the leave of absence. b. The salary may be paid in the same manner, although not in the same amount, as if the unit member were teaching in the District, upon furnishing, by the unit member, of a suitable bond indemnifying the Board against loss in the event that the unit member fails to render at least two (2) years of service in the District following the return of the unit member from the sabbatical leave.
Compensation While on Sabbatical Leave. Compensation will be paid to a Faculty Unit member while the Unit member is on sabbatical leave in the same manner as when the Unit member is fulfilling regularly assigned duties. Compensation While on Sabbatical Leave a. Compensation for unit members while on Sabbatical Leave shall be seventy-five percent (75%) of the salary in accordance with the provisions of the Hayward Unified School District Certificated Salary Schedule in effect during the period of the leave. b. Unit members requesting Sabbatical Leave shall state on the application whether or not they expect salary payment during the course of the Sabbatical Leave. This statement shall constitute final election concerning the Sabbatical Leave salary payment and is not subject to change. c. Compensation while on Sabbatical Leave shall be in keeping with the Education Code. (1) Compensation granted by the Board to the unit member on leave may be paid in two (2) equal annual installments during the first two years of service rendered in the employ of the Board following the return of the unit member from the leave of absence, or, (2) The compensation shall be paid the unit member while on the leave of absence in the same manner as if the unit member were teaching in the District, upon the furnishing by the unit member of a suitable bond indemnifying the Board against loss in the event that the unit member fails to render at least two years' service in the employ of the Board following the return of the unit member from the leave of absence. The bond shall be exonerated in the event the failure of the unit member to return and render two years service is caused by the death or physical or mental disability of the unit member, or, (3) If the Board finds and by resolution declares that the interests of the District will be protected by the written agreement of the unit member to return to the service of the District and render at least two years service therein following his/her return from the leave, the Board in its discretion may waive the furnishing of a bond and pay the unit member on leave in the same manner as though a bond is furnished.
Compensation While on Sabbatical Leave. 1. A Member whose sabbatical application has been accepted by the Board shall receive 50% of the Member’s base salary during the sabbatical leave semester. 2. No additional compensation will be paid for leave that extends over non-contract days. 3. A Member on sabbatical leave shall be paid in the same manner as if the Member had remained in active service. Health and life insurance shall remain in effect through the College plan in accordance with the then current negotiated health and life insurance terms. All other benefits shall remain in effect, including retirement match. 4. In cases where the Member's sabbatical is outside employment: (a) if the remuneration is not greater than the Member's salary (based on the time period of the sabbatical), the sabbatical pay will be reduced by the amount of remuneration; (b) if the remuneration is greater than the Member's annual salary (based on the time period of the sabbatical) the College’s obligation for the Member’s salary during that period will be zero. In either case, benefits as stated above will remain in place. 5. If a Member voluntarily (as determined by the Vice President for Instruction) breaches the sabbatical agreement, then monthly salary payments shall cease and all previous monthly payments made by the College during the sabbatical shall be repaid to the College by the Member. Involuntary interruptions (as determined by the Vice President for Instruction) of the sabbatical leave shall not affect the compensation to be paid the Member under the terms of the sabbatical leave agreement.
Compensation While on Sabbatical Leave. While on sabbatical leave, the employee shall receive fifty percent (50%) of the salary s/he would have received had s/he been in full-time service in the District. Regular full-time employee health & welfare benefits shall remain in full force during the leave. a. The salary may be paid in the same manner as if the employee were teaching in the District or in an alternative manner mutually agreed to by the employee and the Business Office upon furnishing by the employee of a suitable bond indemnifying the District against loss in the event the employee fails to render service in the District twice the length of the sabbatical leave. The bond shall cover the first month of the leave, and continue throughout the last school month of the period of time which is twice the length of the sabbatical after return from leave. b. In no case shall the amount received from sabbatical leave pay and remuneration from grants or stipends related to the sabbatical exceed the regular salary of the employee. Should the amount of remuneration from grants or stipends be sufficient to cause the employee’s regular salary to be exceeded, the sabbatical leave pay shall be reduced by an amount sufficient to reduce the total anticipated salary to the amount the employee would have received had s/he not taken the leave. c. Upon return from sabbatical leave, the Superintendent may request a statement of income from grants or stipends received during the term of the leave.
