Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. Without detracting from the existing rights and obligations of the parties recognized in other provisions of this Agreement, the Employer and the Union agree to cooperate in encouraging employees afflicted with alcoholism or drug dependency to undergo a coordinated program directed to the objective of their rehabilitation.
Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. Without detracting from the existing rights and obligations of the parties recognized in other provisions of this Collective Agreement, the College and the Union agree to cooperate in encouraging Employees afflicted with alcoholism or drug dependency to undergo a coordinated program directed to the objective of their rehabilitation.
Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. During negotiations the parties reaffirmed their conviction that it is important to provide help to employees afflicted with alcohol and drug dependence. We share a common belief that it is more important to provide assistance to such afflicted individuals to motivate them to help themselves overcome their problems, rather than to rely solely on discipline. Further, employees who seek assistance are assured of the privacy and confidentiality of matters discussed and may refer problems to the Substance Abuse Representative from Brampton Assembly Plant. Accordingly, the parties have expressed their mutual wish to continue with their efforts toward this common goal.
Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. A. The Association and the Board jointly recognize that alcoholism is an illness. The Association and Board also recognize that in certain circumstances drug abuse could constitute an illness.
B. The Board agrees that any bargaining unit member with an alcohol or drug abuse problem who requests diagnosis or treatment will not jeopardize his/her job rights or job security and that such problems will be handled in a confidential manner. The employee must participate in an approved program. This provision will not be used more than once per member.
Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. Alcoholism and drug abuse are recognized by the parties to be treatable conditions. Without detracting from the existing rights and obligations of the parties recognized in the other provisions of this Agreement, the Company and the Union agree to cooperate at the plant level in encouraging Employees afflicted with alcoholism or drug abuse to undergo a coordinated program directed to the objective of their rehabilitation.
Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. A. The employer agrees not to perform random testing, testing prior to promotion or the award of tenure, periodic testing, or testing as a part of any physical or psychological examinations otherwise required. The employer may perform drug and/or alcohol testing upon individualized reasonable suspicion. The cost of the test will be paid by the District.
B. The association and employer jointly agree that sick leave may be used by employees to gain treatment for alcohol and drug abuse and/or drug abuse problems. Employees may use accumulated sick leave for extended treatment on two separate occasions. Accumulated sick leave may be used without limit for individual visits to recognized professionals that provide treatment.
C. The written report of the result of an investigation of actual or alleged alcohol and/or drug abuse shall be promptly reported to the respective bargaining unit member.

Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. The Employer and the Union shall encourage employees with alcohol or drug addictions to place themselves in an appropriate treatment program. Where the alcohol and/or drug addiction interferes with the employee's job performance, the Employer can require that the employee commence and maintain an approved treatment program. If a treatment program requires an absence from work, an employee can use accumulated vacation or sick time. If the employee requires further time away from work or is not eligible for Long Term Disability benefits, the employee can apply for an unpaid leave of absence. The Employer will not unreasonably deny that application. If the absence is to exceed ninety (90) days, the employee shall apply for Long Term Disability benefits (if enrolled in the LTD Plan). When commencing a treatment program, that requires an absence from work, the employee shall advise the Employer of the expected duration of that absence.
Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. The Parties recognize alcoholism and drug abuse as illnesses which are treatable. As such, employees are entitled to all of the rights and benefits provided to other employees who are sick. Supervisory officials shall assure employees, with an alcohol or drug problem, that a request for diagnosis or treatment will not jeopardize his/her job rights or job security and that the situation will be kept confidential. The Parties agree to cooperate in an effort to induce employees with alcohol or drug-related problems to obtain proper diagnosis and treatment. Awards for outstanding achievement by an employee in working safely will be an integral part of the safety program. Criteria for identifying and recognizing such employees will be formulated by the Service and consulted upon with the Council within ninety (90) days from the effective date of this Agreement in accordance with Title VII of the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978.
Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. A. A Union representative shall be allowed to accompany the employee to the test and observe collection, bottling and sealing of the specimen. The employee shall not be observed when the urine specimen is given.
B. The Employer agrees to hold the Union harmless and to bear any expenses incurred by the Union in litigation that arises from the Employer’s alcohol and drug testing program, not including litigation between Employer, Union, or member under this Agreement for disciplinary procedure.
