Directed Study. When requested by the Vice President, a member may teach a course as a directed study. In this situation, it is assumed that faculty must spend 1 hour per week with the student(s) who are earning 3 credits. Therefore, the conversion from contact hours (CH) to Lecture hour Equivalent (LHE) shall be: Example: The Vice President asks a member to teach a 3 credit directed study. The load shall be calculated as: 15 𝐶𝐻 × 𝑐𝑟𝑒𝑑𝑖𝑡
Directed Study. In order to fully meet all aspects of state mandated Time and Learning (990 hours) for all students, it is necessary to more fully implement the following:
1. Each academic department will develop a packet of exercises/assignments for study students who do not have an academic assignment (MCAS materials, for an example).
2. All students, without exception, will be engaged in academic schoolwork relating to course content.
3. Students will be encouraged (directed) to approach study hall teacher and askspecific questions on academic work.
4. The study hall teacher, upon his or her discretion, may reassign a student to the library, computer laboratories, Academic Support Center and or individual teacher (if available) based upon individual student needs.
Directed Study. In addition to the Independent Study option, an effort will be made t o provide students in the Phoenix Union High School District an alternative method for earning credit in district course offerings. Independent Study courses are defined as courses which provide enrichment opportu nities to students in a given department. Credit is given in “Independent Study– .” Directed Study shall be defined as an alternative method of offering any of the existing regular course offerings. A Directed Study (DS) course will have the same curriculum requirements as the traditional course. Credit shall be given in the specifically identified course, which will be recorded on the transcript as “course name - DS”. An Accreditation Committee shall exist on each campus and shall be chaired by a teacher appointed by the campus committee. Representatives shall include a counselor and a member from English, mathematics, social studies and science. Other departments which offer DS courses shall also have representation. Department representative selections shall be made prior to the initiation of any DS courses on the campus. Every department may choose to have a representative. This will be considered the club/ committee assignment for the representatives. Prior approval from the Accreditation Committee is required for all DS course proposals. Since Directed Study may begin at any time in the semester, the committee shall meet as needed to avoid delays in beginning Directed Study course work. Minutes of the Accreditation Committee’s meetings, including their decisions, shall be sent to the Principal, Unit Chair, and Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Accountability within five (5) calendar days of the meeting. The following regulations/ procedures have been established for Directed Study (DS):
Directed Study. If a member is directed in writing by the College to take a class, the time actually devoted to class sessions by the member shall be considered work hours. Such classes which the member is directed to take shall not reduce the tuition waiver to which the member is entitled.
Directed Study. In the case of one or more students needing a class in the semester in which they would graduate or a class prerequisite to classes necessary to graduate within one academic year, when that class has been canceled, is otherwise not offered due to low enrollments, or is offered at time that the students’ schedules cannot accommodate, a directed study course may be offered under the following guidelines. The offering of a directed study in such circumstances is up to the Xxxx’x discretion based on the benefit to the student’s immediate progress toward completion of the degree. This does not apply to other sections or individually designed independent study proposals. Acceptance of directed study courses will be voluntary on the part of faculty and will be subject to approval of the Xxxx or immediate supervisor. Compensation schedule:
Directed Study. Member has a student in directed study. The course profile lists 30 lecture contact hours. Example 3 Non-Standard Course: Member and VP agree that it takes 10 actual hours per week to monitor, aid and assess students.
Directed Study. Section 1. The Parties recognize that Directed Study, both required and voluntary, should result in either improved employee performance or increased employee ability or, ideally, both. Therefore, supervisors shall allow personnel voluntarily participating in agency Directed Study courses to devote a maximum of ten (10) hours per month of duty time to the study of these courses, provided operational and staffing requirements permit.
Section 2. When directed by job requirements, and in accordance with Agency training directives, the Employer will determine the amount of time required to complete the study, and such study will be accomplished on duty time.
Directed Study. Supervisors shall have their total school year wages estimated and paid bi-weekly on payroll dates established each year by the District. The payroll dates shall be established between September 1 and June 30 and be twenty-one (21) or twenty-two (22) in number as annually determined by the District.
Directed Study. Teachers may use directed study or individual meeting time to provide material to students who are not present for in-person classes and will not be expected to re-create the in-person class experience for those absent students.
Directed Study the Independent Study provides the student with an opportunity to study a subject or area that is not treated by regularly offered courses. Please append the course syllabus to this agreement.
