The Emergency Duty Leave clause grants employees the right to take leave from work in the event of unforeseen emergencies, such as natural disasters, urgent family matters, or other critical situations requiring immediate attention. Emergency Duty Leave. A full-time employee who is a member of the National Guard or organized Reserves of a United States Military Service and who is ordered to emergency duty because of riot, flood or other disaster shall be granted a Leave of Absence for the duration of that emergency duty. Seniority shall accumulate during such leave.

All employees who are qualified members of an emergency service organization (such as, but not limited to, emergency medical technician, search and rescue, fire department, police department, etc.) shall have up to three (3) days leave per year when a request is made to the Superintendent by a representative of said organization.

A Bargaining Unit employee who is a member of the National Guard or Organized Reserves of a United States Military Service and who is ordered to emergency duty or other government declared disaster because of a riot, flood, or other disaster, shall be granted a leave of absence for the duration of that emergency duty.
(1) The Employer shall be obligated only to pay an amount equal to the difference between the employee’s salary as computed on a daily basis and the reservist’s documented daily base stipend paid, if that stipend is less than the employee’s daily rate.
(2) The Employer shall be obligated only to pay the above difference for a maximum period of thirty (30) calendar days.
Emergency Duty Leave. A unit member may take time off to perform emergency duty as a volunteer firefighter, a reserve peace officer, or emergency rescue personnel. An employee who is a volunteer firefighter shall be permitted to take temporary leaves of absence, not to exceed an aggregate total of 14 days per calendar year, for the purpose of engaging in fire or law enforcement training. Emergency Duty Leave. Administrative leave from District duty without loss of longevity, leave, or pay may be granted for purposes of participation in official firefighting and search and rescue activities. Leave maybe taken under this section only with the prior approval of the Bargaining Unit Member's first level of supervision outside of the Bargaining Unit. Such approval may be made on a standing basis for members of volunteer fire fighting organizations.
