TRADING TIME. All employees shall be permitted to voluntarily trade off-duty and shift time for personal reasons with the approval of the Chief of Police or his or her designee. Traded time shall be mutually agreeable, in writing and shall state the specific time and dates of trades, which shall be within the pay period in effect during the request. Reasonable requests for trading time will be allowed as long as the trade does not create or result in overtime status.
TRADING TIME. 8.16.1 With approval of an appropriate supervisor, or his/her designee the trading of hours between employees may occur without overtime liability to the State.
8.16.2 Such trades shall be deemed:
8.16.2.1 Voluntary by the employees affected;
8.16.2.2 Not at the behest or request of the employer;
8.16.2.3 Not due to the State's business or operational needs;
8.16.2.4 For the employee's desire or need to attend to personal matters.
8.16.3 The trading of time between employees may occur both within the duty week and from one work period to another.
8.16.4 The period during which time is traded and paid back shall not exceed 12 consecutive months or that period allowed by law.
8.16.5 In addition to obtaining approval, the employees affected shall provide a written confirmation of the names, dates, and times pertinent to the particular times traded, to the appropriate supervisor, or his/her designee. This provision does not exempt the supervisor/employer from maintaining a record of all time traded by his/her employees.
TRADING TIME. In those situations where the University will not incur an overtime obligation and the Executive Director of Public Safety’s discretion, or their designee may approve, employees to trade individual work days or work shifts.
TRADING TIME. An employee will be permitted to trade shifts or days off with another qualified employee within the same classification provided that the trade does not result in the payment of overtime or interfere with the orderly operations of the City. Three (3) days advance written notice of the trade will be provided to the City, except in cases of unforeseen emergency where the three (3) day notice period may be waived by the City. Trades will not involve more than two (2) employees and no additional trades will be permitted until the original trade is repaid. All trades must be repaid within the same pay period.
TRADING TIME. Subject to the authorization of the Fire Chief, Division Chief, or Fire Captains, employees in the unit shall be allowed to trade time with other employees of equal position on the following basis:
TRADING TIME. Employees will be allowed practices of “trading time” and/or “early relief” with approval of the Fire Chief or Deputy Fire Chief. In the event the Chief or Deputy Fire Chief are not available, the Shift Captain shall have the authority to give the approval. The application of this Article shall not result in the payment of overtime compensation to employees who trade time or are provided early relief.
TRADING TIME. It is agreed that each employee shall be allowed to trade time subject to prior approval, and at the discretion of the Fire Chief or his designee. Requests for trading time must be made in writing at least one (1) calendar day in advance of the earliest date requested to be changed.
TRADING TIME. Subject to authorization of the Fire Chief, Fire Battalion Chiefs may trade time with other employees of equal position. Trading time shall be agreeable with both parties and shall be requested in a memorandum signed by both employees requesting the trade.
TRADING TIME. The policy of allowing corrections deputies and correction shift leaders to trade days and shifts by mutual agreement shall be continued; provided, however, trading shall not cost the Employer overtime and must be paid back within the calendar year in which the trade is made.
TRADING TIME. Dispatchers may trade time with other Dispatchers in the IAFF bargaining unit under the following conditions:
1. With the approval of the Communication Center Director or his/her designee and with seventy-two (72) hours advance notice.
2. Trading time shall be between like classifications.
3. Trading shall be limited to like days, i.e., employees may only trade 12-hour days for 12-hour days and 8-hour days for 8-hour days.
4. Trades shall not result in back-to-back shifts being worked.
5. The Police Department will not assume any responsibility for any time lost to any member.
6. Should any exchange of time cause a detriment to the Police Department, in the opinion of the Director of the Communication Center, he/she may refuse to grant permission for the exchange.
7. Any employee who is scheduled to work and makes arrangements to have another employee work on his/her behalf, is responsible to have the shift (hours) covered. If the time is not covered for any reason, the scheduled member will owe the City the number of hours that were not worked, to be paid back at the City’s convenience.
8. The employee working for another member shall report to duty in a condition to be able to perform the duties as prescribed by the Supervisor in charge.
9. No employee shall owe more than forty (40) hours at one time.
