Emergency Protocol. Xxxxxxxx Program and the Union acknowledge the possibility that employees may be physically injured during the course of their work. Whenever an employee requires immediate emergency medical care, they shall have the right to leave work and have the needed medical care. When medical care is desired or required by an employee, but is not an emergency in nature, the Senior Family Support Counselor and the manager or on-call personnel shall weigh the client population's needs and the medical needs of the employee. As soon as it is deemed programmatically appropriate and feasible, the employee shall have the right to leave work and obtain the necessary medical care. Such decisions shall not be capricious or arbitrary. In Northampton, if an employee must leave their duties to obtain medical care under this article, staff from one or both of the other residences will provide necessary client coverage until a substitute can be acquired.
