To facilitate the operation of the Agreement and employer-faculty member relationships, the Association will be provided quarter-time leave of absence without loss of pay for one (1) of its members in two (2) semesters each year. Faculty Association Business. 10.1 Subject to Clause 10.2, time off, without loss of regular earnings, will be provided for Faculty Association officers to conduct official Faculty Association business on the following basis: (a) Members of the Negotiating Committee for time spent meeting with representatives of the Board during formal negotiation of a Collective Agreement; (b) Faculty Association Members for time spent meeting with representatives of the Board at formal Employee Management Committees where matters of mutual concern are discussed. (a) Time off shall be granted except where disruption of work will arise. Faculty Members shall provide as much advance notice as is reasonably possible when requesting time off. Where such time off is granted for an indeterminate period the Faculty Member shall communicate with the employing department on a daily basis in respect to the date of return. (b) The Board agrees to pay one third (1/3) release time for the President of the Faculty Association. 10.3 Notwithstanding Clause 10.1 and pursuant to Clause 10.2 (a), the Faculty Association shall be allowed to buy such service time as it deems necessary. Any Faculty Member granted service time shall in no way suffer loss of any benefits, increments, privileges, or any other Faculty Member right. 10.4 Pursuant to Clause 10.3 above, the Faculty Association will pay the Board the cost of replacement salaries only. 10.5 Notwithstanding Clauses 10.1 and 10.2 (a) above, the Board grants one (1) working day/year when classes are not being held in order to allow the Faculty Association and Management Executives, and the Faculty Negotiating Committee to discuss the Collective Agreement with the Faculty Association. 10.6 Neither the Board nor any person acting on behalf of the Board shall: (a) refuse to employ or not continue to employ any Faculty Member or discriminate against any Faculty Member in regard to employment because the said Faculty Member is a member, officer or representative of the Faculty Association. (b) seek by intimidation, threat of dismissal or any other kind of threat, by the imposition of a pecuniary or other penalty or by any other means to compel a person to refrain from becoming or to cease to be a member, officer or representative of the Faculty Association. (c) The Association will have the right to use College facilities for meeting purposes free of charge. (d) Should the Association require office space for its administration, the College will provide such space on the home campus of the Association President. (e) One Association designate will be furnished with a copy of the Agenda and other public information assembled for College Board meetings. This material will be mailed to the Association at the time of distribution to the College Board. Approved minutes of all College Board meetings will be distributed similarly.   • Association Business Duly authorized representatives of the Association shall be permitted to transact official Association business on school property at all reasonable times provided that such activities shall not interfere with normal school operations.

  • Association Business Leave A total of ten (10) days Association Business Leave shall be allowed by the district on condition that a competent qualified substitute employee is available and willing to serve. The designated representative of the Association and officers of the Association shall be allowed to take such leave for conducting Association Business or to attend state or local conferences. Substitutes hired by the District to cover such absences shall be paid for by the Association. At least five (5) normal business days advance notification of intent to take such leave shall be given to the Superintendent by the Association President.

  • Time Off for Union Business ‌ (a) Leave of absence without pay shall be granted upon request for the reasons set out below unless it would unduly interrupt the Employer's operations: (1) to an elected or appointed representative of the Union to attend conventions of the Union and bodies to which the Union is affiliated, to a maximum of 21 days per occurrence; (2) for elected or appointed representatives of the Union to attend to union business which requires them to leave their general work area; (3) for employees who are representatives of the Union on a bargaining committee. (b) Long-term leave of absence without pay shall be granted to employees designated by the Union to transact union business for specific periods of not less than 21 days unless this would unduly interrupt the operation of the department. Such requests shall be made in writing sufficiently in advance to minimize disruption of the department. Employees granted such leave of absence shall retain all rights and privileges accumulated prior to obtaining such leave. Seniority shall continue to accumulate during such leave and shall apply to such provisions as annual vacations, increments and promotions. (c) When leave of absence without pay is granted pursuant to Part (a) or (b), the leave shall be given with pay and the Union shall reimburse the Employer for salary and benefit costs, including travel time incurred, within 60 days of receipt of the invoice. It is understood that employees granted leave of absence pursuant to this clause shall receive their current rates of pay while on leave of absence. Leave of absence granted under this clause shall include sufficient travel time. The pay and benefits received by the employee and reimbursed by the Union under this article shall be based on the number of hours to which the Union indicates, in writing, the employee is entitled. This provision does not apply to employees on extended leaves of absence who are employed by the Union on a full-time basis. (d) Leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority will be granted to an employee called to appear as a witness before an arbitration board, provided the dispute involved the Employer. On application, the Arbitration Board may determine summarily the amount of time required for the attendance of any witness. (e) The Union shall provide the Employer with reasonable notice to minimize disruption of the operation and shall make every reasonable effort to give a minimum of 14 days’ notice prior to the commencement of leave under (a) or (b) above. The Employer agrees that any of the above leaves of absence shall not be unreasonably withheld.

  • Union Business (a) The Hospital shall grant leave of absence without pay to employees to attend Union conventions, seminars, education classes and other Union business in connection with the administration of the collective agreement provided that such leave will not interfere with the efficient operation of the Hospital. Such leave will not be unreasonably denied. In requesting such leave of absence for an employee or employees, the Union must give at least fourteen (14) days clear notice in writing to the Hospital, unless not reasonably possible to give such notice. The cumulative total leave of absence, the number of employees that may be absent at any one time from any one area, and the number of days of absence shall be negotiated locally and are set out in the Local Provisions Appendix. During such leave of absence, the employee's salary and applicable benefits shall be maintained by the Hospital on the basis of what his normal regular hours of work would have been, provided that the Union reimburses the Hospital in the amount of such salary and applicable benefits within thirty (30) days of billing. Notwithstanding the above, time spent by the eight (8) Executive Board members and seven (7) Alternate Executive Board members of the Ontario Council of Hospital Unions to fulfill the duties of the position shall be in addition to leave for Union Business under this clause. Part-time and casual employees will be given full credit for seniority purposes for regularly scheduled hours missed in accordance with this provision. (b) In addition to the above, a part-time or casual employee who is attending to union business when not regularly scheduled to work shall be deemed to be on union leave and the amount of such leave shall not be deducted from the number of days of absence identified above. Such part-time or casual employee will be credited with seniority for the number of hours of such leave to a maximum of thirty-seven and one-half (37.5) hours per week. The Union will advise the Hospital of the number of such hours.

  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATIONAL IMPROVEMENT A. Tuition costs incurred by administrator shall be reimbursed by the Board of Education under the following terms and conditions: 1. Tuition costs eligible for reimbursement must be for courses in the field of education. In addition, courses not in the field of education but closely related may be approved for reimbursement at the sole discretion of the Superintendent or his/her designee in advance of enrollment. Reimbursement will not be made until satisfactory evidence of having received a passing grade is presented. 2. Reimbursement for actual tuition costs incurred by a member shall be limited to a maximum reimbursement of the average tuition cost for twelve (12) graduate/Doctoral level credits at the following four (4) state universities: Rutgers, Rowan, College of New Jersey, and Montclair computed annually. Masters’ degree maximum will be limited to the average Masters’ level cost and Doctorate degree maximum will be limited to the average Doctoral level cost. 3. The date on which a course is completed will determine the contract year in which the credits will be applicable for reimbursement. 4. Non-tenured members shall be eligible for reimbursement at the level set forth in Subsection 2 above, for tuition costs incurred for graduate credits earned during a period after the award of a first-year contract, but prior to the commencement of work under a tenured contract; provided however, such reimbursement shall not be payable to such member unless and until said member has commenced work under a tenure contract. 5. Upon satisfactory compliance by the member with all of the terms and conditions set forth in the preceding subsections, such member shall be paid his/her reimbursement entitlement on either October 2 for the prior Spring and Summer course work taken, or April 1 for the prior Fall course work provided that the member is still in the employ of the Board on such date. Such payment shall be further conditioned on said member remaining in the employ of the Board for the remainder of the current school year. In the event that such member shall leave the employ of the Board prior to the expiration of the school year in which such reimbursement entitlement has been paid, such member shall be obligated to refund to the Board the entire reimbursement paid to him/her during such school year, and for such purpose, the Board shall be empowered to deduct said sum from such member’s salary payments. 6. No member shall be eligible for tuition reimbursement in connection with tuition costs incurred that are paid by the Veteran’s Administration or any other outside agency. 7. Upon earning tenure in the district as an administrator, the Board of Education shall reimburse the administrator costs associated with their participation in the New Jersey State Mentoring and Assessment Program. Participation in the Mentoring and Assessment Program must have occurred entirely during the time of employment in the Washington Township Public School District.
