Health and safety facilities on the Affected Property. The Contractor complies with the Employer’s SHE specification (Eskom Level 1 Construction Safety, Health and Environment Procedure – reference 32-136(0) and must request it from the Service Manager on site establishment. All work carried out by the Contractor, is done in strict accordance with all relevant safety Laws and procedures. The Contractor is responsible for the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for his employees such as but not limited to; overalls, hard hats, safety boots, ear plugs and safety glasses.

Health and safety facilities on the Affected Property. The Contractor shall at all times comply with the health and safety requirements prescribe by law as they may apply to the service. The Contractor shall comply with the following Eskom Life-Saving Rules: Rule 1 – Open, Isolate, Test, Earth, Bond, and / or Insulate before touch Rule 2 – Hook up at height Rule 3 – Buckle up Rule 4 – Be sober Rule 5 – Ensure you have a permit to work Eskom Life-Saving Rules are non-negotiable Health and Safety rules which must not be broken under any circumstances. It must be highlighted that Eskom takes a ZERO TOLERANCE stance to violation of these rules. These rules are applicable to any person entering eskom sites. Contractor shall comply with all other rules at non Eskom sites. The Contractor shall at all times comply with all Mine and Power Station health and safety requirements wherever they shall be deployed.
Health and safety facilities on the Affected Property. Komati Power Station is equipped with a medical centre. In the event of all and any Health and Safety incident occurring on the side of a Contractor, the Contractor shall immediately notify the Employer’s representative and the affected employee(s) of the Contractor shall be taken by the Contractor to the Komati medical centre for an assessment/examination. The medical centre may refer the affected employee(s) to hospital. It is expected of the Contractor’s representative preferably site management and safety representative to accompany the affected employee(s) to such a hospital if so referred by the medical centre and to keep the Employer updated frequently of the condition of the affected employee(s). A flash report shall be sent by the Contractor to the Employer within 24 hours of the incident. The Contractor complies with the Occupational Health and Saxxxx Xxx, 0000, (xxx Xxx) xhe Employers Plant Safety Regulations GGR 0992, and all Safety procedures issued by the Employer. All Responsible Persons in terms of the Plant Safety Regulations are required to be in possession of arc flash protection suites. The cost for the suites will be free issued by the Employer’s on first issue but will be for the Contractor’s account as part of PPE from second issue onwards. The Contractor employs only people who have received sufficient training to ensure that they comply with the Act. The Contractor appoints a person who liaises with the Employer’s designated Safety Officer. The appointed person, on the request of the Service Manager: Undertakes safety audits at the Site and on the Contractor’s employees. Refuses any employee, Sub-Contractor or agent of the Contractor access to the Site if such person is found to commit any unlawful act or any unsafe working practice or is found to be not authorised or qualified in terms of the Act. Issues the Contractor with a work stop order should he become aware of any unsafe working procedure or conditions of non-compliance with the Act, Regulations and Procedures by the Contractor, Sub- Contractors or agents. The Contractor attends the Employer’s safety meetings (monthly for base crew and accordingly during outages as agreed). The Employer follows an accident prevention policy that includes the investigation of all accidents involving personnel and property. Health and safety facilities on the Affected Property. The Contractor ensures full compliance with the Occupational, Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993) and all relevant environmental legislation. There is a Medical centre which can be utilised by the Contractor in normal working hours, where after hours working is done the Contractor ensures there is a trained first aider with a first aid box available on site at all times or calls 5222 after hours for the Proto Team assistance. Should the Contractor require additional medical needs a Doctor is available at prescribed times on the Rietkuil property, this is for his own account.
