JOB COMPETITION. (a) When an employee applies for and is the successful candidate for a position at a lower pay grade, their salary will be reduced by 5% per grade reduction but in any case, shall not exceed the maximum salary of the new pay grade. An employee who has received notice of redeployment and who is the successful candidate for a position shall retain their current salary for the duration of their notice period, notwithstanding that they may commence the new position prior to the end of their notice period. (b) If the adjustment in (a) results in a salary that falls between Steps in the new pay grade, the employee’s salary will be set at the next Step up in the pay grade, but in any case, shall not exceed the maximum salary of the new pay grade. (c) In no case will the employee’s salary be less than the Step 1 salary in the new salary grade. (d) An employee’s salary will not be reduced if a modification of their duties results in a re-evaluation of their position to a lower pay grade. (e) If the employee’s salary prior to re-evaluation is above the maximum rate in the new pay grade, their salary will remain unchanged until the maximum pay rate in the new pay grade exceeds the employee’s salary. (f) If an employee voluntarily accepts reduced responsibilities that result in their position being placed in a lower pay grade, their salary will be reduced by 5% per grade reduction but in any case, shall not exceed the maximum salary of the new pay grade. (g) If the adjustment in (f) results in a salary that falls between Steps in the new pay grade, the employee’s salary will be set at the next Step up in the pay grade. (a) Acting Pay is provided to an employee who is temporarily assigned a significant part of the duties of a higher graded position for a period of 6 weeks or more. (b) A graded job description is required to determine the amount of Acting Pay the employee will receive. The amount of Acting Pay will be determined based on the pay grade of the Acting position in accordance with 30.06.

JOB COMPETITION. (PFT, PPT, TFT, TPT, C) a) In filling vacancies, new union positions or promotions, appointments for the following classifications: i) Schedule 1 Pay Grade 10 and above ii) Schedule 2 Pay Grade 2 and above iii) Schedule 2A Pay Grade 8 and above iv) Schedule 2B Pay Grade 8 and above v) Schedule 3 (all classifications) The following factors shall govern: a) qualifications, experience, skills and ability, attendance, such criteria shall be bonafide; and b) seniority Where the factors set out in (a) above are relatively equal amongst competing applicants, factor (b) shall govern. b) In filling vacancies, new union positions or promotions that are not covered in Article 13.7(a) above, the appointment shall be made of the applicant having the bonafide required qualifications and the greatest seniority. It is understood and agreed that "bonafide qualifications" means the combination of education, experience and skills that are set out in the "qualifications" section of the job posting.
JOB COMPETITION. As of January 1, 2013, all applications to a bargaining unit vacancy shall be submitted to Corporate Services – Human Resources. An employee required to attend an interview by the Public Service Commission or the permanent head shall be entitled to reimbursement of reasonable expenses necessarily incurred by him/her in attending such interview in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Treasury Board.
