Lay-Off Defined. Lay-off will mean: (a) A job abolition/elimination; (i) A reduction in the normal hours of work of a permanent, full-time Employee; (ii) A reduction in hours of work of a part-time Employee as stipulated in her Letter of Appointment.

Lay-Off Defined. A lay off shall be defined as a temporary severance of the work employment relationship, or a permanent reduction of the workforce.
Lay-Off Defined. Lay-Off" means a temporary or permanent severance of employment — other than Discharge — due to a shortage of work, including Hiatus or scheduled termination. It is understood that a lay-off automatically occurs at the end of a defined call as follows: (a) An end date is specified on an Employee’s Deal Memorandum; (b) At the end of the shift of a Daily Call; (c) At the end of a period of employment of which the length has been defined in advance; (d) At the wrap of production, unless an Employee is specifically requested to remain employed beyond such date.

Lay-Off Defined. A. The word "lay-off' means a reduction in the work force due to a decrease of work. B. In the event it becomes necessary for a lay-off, the Employer shall meet with the proper Union representatives at least three (3) weeks prior to the effective date of lay-off. At such meeting the Employer shall submit a list of the number of employees scheduled for lay-off, their names, seniority, job titles and work locations. If the results of such meeting are not conclusive, the matter shall become a proper subject for the final step of the grievance procedure. C. When a lay-off takes place, employees not entered on the seniority list shall be laid off first. Thereafter, employees having seniority shall be laid off in the reverse order of their seniority, i.e., the least senior employees on the seniority list being laid off first. Providing the remaining employees have the ability to perform the work that is available. D. Employees to be laid off will receive at least fourteen (14) calendar days advance notice of the lay-off. E. During a lay-off there shall be no scheduled overtime.
