Other Extended Leaves of Absence. 1. Advanced Study/Educational Leave shall be granted to employees in accordance with APS policy.
Other Extended Leaves of Absence. Other leaves of absence may be granted upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools and approval of the Board. Should the leave be determined upon application to constitute a positive contribution to the Rocky Point educational system, credit on the salary schedule shall be granted for the duration of the absence.

Peace Corps/Exchange Teachers: A leave of absence without pay of up to 2 years will be granted to any tenured teacher who joins the Peace Corps or serves as an exchange teacher and is a full-time participant in either of such programs. Upon return from such leave, a teacher will be placed on the salary schedule at the level that would have been attained had the teacher remained actively involved in the School District. A non-tenured teacher may be granted this leave at the discretion of the School District.
