PAY FOR ACTING RANK. 20.01 When an employee, is assigned to a higher rank on a temporary basis, he/she shall be paid at the rate of pay for the higher rank provided the assignment is for not less than one (1) hour.
PAY FOR ACTING RANK. Any police officer who is assigned in an acting capacity within a vacant position within a higher salary range for a period exceeding fifteen (15) consecutive working days shall be paid the higher salary for the period worked in such acting capacity. Such pay shall be retroactive to the beginning of this assignment. It is agreed and understood that a police officer assigned to another position shall be expected to carry out the necessary job responsibilities required of other officers of the same rank.
PAY FOR ACTING RANK. Employees, who are working in an acting capacity within a higher salary range for a period exceeding twenty (20) working days, shall be paid the higher salary for the period worked in such an acting capacity. Such pay shall be retroactive for a period worked at the higher salary from the beginning of the assignment. Work day shall be defined as each day the employee actually works in an acting capacity within a higher salary range.
PAY FOR ACTING RANK. Whenever an employee covered by this collective bargaining agreement performs the duties of any rank higher than his/her present rank under orders from the Fire Chief or Shift Commander and/or for the convenience of the City, said employee shall be compensated in the amount for that particular position upon an hourly basis. Said employee shall be paid from the first hour worked at the highest rate for such position.
PAY FOR ACTING RANK. 6.1 Each employee who is required, by authority of the Fire Chief or his/her designate, to act in the capacity of a higher rank shall be paid the rate of such acting rank in respect of all days thus worked. Payment shall be made on the first pay of each month.
PAY FOR ACTING RANK. Section 17.1. An employee temporarily assigned or required, for a minimum of at least thirteen (13) hours during a shift, to accept the responsibility and duties of a position above that which he/she normally holds shall be paid at the rate of pay for the job to which he/she is transferred or assigned as though he/she had been permanently promoted to such job. Effective July 1, 2009, the rate of pay shall be figured hourly by dividing the annual salary of the employee by the hours regularly scheduled per year (2300 hours). The employee shall be paid the difference in hourly pay between his/her present salary and the salary of the job being performed. When an employee has accumulated 2300 hours in the first step to which he/she would be promoted, he/she shall be entitled to receive acting pay at the next step rate and will continue to move from step to step after accumulating 2300 hours at any step. The need for and appointment to the rank of Acting Assistant Chief shall be in the discretion of the Chief. For purposes of this provision only, the City shall pay the employees for such work on or about the 1st of January and the 1st of July of each year.
Section 17.2. For forty (40) hour employees, the need and appointment to an acting rank shall be in the discretion of the Director of Police and Fire Services. Effective July 1, 1986, acting positions in a platoon position shall be filled first from employees on a certified promotional list, and secondly, from employees who have not dropped below 70% on their last two (2) performance evaluations.

The employee promoted to take over such duties shall hold this rank until the officer returns, or until a new appointment is made, at the discretion of the Chief. Employees who act on a temporary basis in the capacity of Mechanic, as designated by the Chief, will be entitled to receive a payment of $500 per year. Reimbursement for such pay (overtime, acting pay, court time, etc) will be made no later than the next pay period after a member works in an acting capacity.

Members acting in Non-Union positions will be subject to the terms and conditions of Appendix Compensation for such acting will be subject to the provisions of Article above and will be at the rates stipulated in Article i The Association shall be allowed to use a City Fire Hall with the Chiefs permission in order to hold meetings. The Association and the Corporation through the Joint Safety and Health Committee will recommend to the Chief safe working practices, conditions, equipment and safety awareness programs, throughout the The parties agree to establish a Joint Modified to Work Committee to make recommendations to the Chief on: structure and conditions surrounding injured employees terms and conditions required when modified work language, requests for Doctor notes.
