Professional and Association Leave. Teachers may submit to their building Principal application for a professional or Association leave, which will be referred to the Board of Education for consideration of approval. The Board of Education may approve visitations at other schools, attendance at educational conferences, conventions or Association meetings. The application will be submitted to the building Principal. The Board may provide under approved circumstances, the necessary funds for teachers who desire to attend selected professional conferences. Application should be submitted to the Principal.

Professional and Association Leave. Teachers who are officers of the State or National Association or are appointed to its staff, upon proper application, may be given leave of absence for one (1) year without pay for the purpose of performing duties for the Association.
Professional and Association Leave. A. Professional business days may be used for any educational purpose at the discretion of the teacher with the approval of the appropriate administrator. The teacher planning to use a professional business day shall notify his/her principal at least two (2) weeks in advance of his/her absence. The Board will provide appropriate expenses for travel, food and lodging. The teacher shall file a written report to his/her building principal within one (1) week of the attendance at visitations, conferences, workshops, or seminars. B. Any teacher called for jury duty or to serve as a witness during school hours shall be paid the difference between his/her regular salary and any remuneration received from other sources, excepting reimbursement for expenses. C. Any teacher called to testify at any legal process in any matter involving his/her employer or himself/herself as it applies to his/her employment shall be paid the difference between his/her regular salary and any remuneration received from other sources, excepting reimbursement for expenses. D. A teacher shall return to work if released from jury duty or as a witness early enough to allow him/her to return to work and put in a minimum of one half (1/2) day or more.

The Association will be granted fourteen (14) teacher days during the academic year in which members may be released from their regular duties without loss of compensation for the purpose of participation in business relating to the operation of the Association in the Xxxxxx School District. These days will be allowed only upon authorization of the AEA President. If additional days are needed, a request can be brought to Labor Management and the cost of the substitute teacher will be paid by the AEA.

The Board acknowledges that the services provided by the Association, including promoting harmonious labor relations, is sufficient and current reimbursement for the sums paid to the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System on behalf of the Association members (also refer to Article VII, Section I, M-N).

  • Professional and Education Leaves (a) Leave of absence with pay or without pay may be granted to employees to attend professional and educational meetings, courses, or other events which may be judged beneficial to the employee's professional development, especially as it relates to her responsibilities with the Employer.

  • Association Leaves 1. The Board will provide the Association President or their designee with forty (40) days of paid release time during the course of the school year in order to conduct Association Business. The Association shall reimburse the Board for the cost of any substitute required as the result of any such released time which exceeds forty (40) days during the course of the school year. 2. The following provisions were not bargained and have been included for informational purposes only: a. Because of the many responsibilities imposed on the President of the Association, and in order to enhance the quality of instruction in the classes taught by him or her and maintain continuity, the Board will provide the building to which the President is assigned with a full-time aide who is also a certified substitute teacher. b. The building principal and the President will work out a mutually agreed upon schedule for the use of the aide. c. The presence of this aide will not be used to justify absences in excess of those authorized by the terms of this Agreement.

  • Association Leave The Association shall be allowed to use up to 5 days of leave each school year for use by teachers who are officers or agents of the Association. The Association shall reimburse Unified School District 434 for the loss of use of the teacher taking such leave by paying the daily cost of a substitute teacher. The Association shall notify the Superintendent not less than 5 calendar days in advance of using such leave.

  • Professional Dues The school district will pay the annual dues for the Superintendent’s membership in the American Association of School Administrators, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and Nebraska Council of School Administrators. The Superintendent’s membership in other professional organizations will be considered annually and may be approved at the discretion of the school board.

  • Professional Development Leave A. Policy. Professional development leave shall be made available to employees who meet the requirements set forth below. Such leaves are granted to increase an employee's value to the University through enhanced opportunities for professional renewal, educational travel, study, formal education, research, writing, or other experience of professional value, not as a reward for service.

  • Professional Leave Professional leave without pay will be granted to full-time and regular part-time Nurses who are elected to the College of Nurses to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the College of Nurses. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Nurses who are elected to the RNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Practical Nurses who are elected to the RPNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings.

  • Federation Leave A leave of absence for the president and a second position of the Federation shall be granted to any employee covered by this Agreement upon application by the Federation for the purpose of the employee serving as an officer of the Federation. The District shall continue to pay such employee(s) and provide benefits, with the exception of leave benefits, but will be reimbursed by the Federation for the cost of salary and fringe benefits. Upon return from such leaves, an employee shall proceed on the salary schedule as if s/he had been employed with the District each year of the leave. The Federation agrees to consider carefully each request for release time for Federation members. Although leaves for short terms without loss of pay may be granted upon approval by the Office of the Superintendent, the Federation shall reimburse the District for the cost of salaries and fringe benefits.

  • PROFESSIONAL AUTONOMY 1. Teachers shall, within the bounds of the prescribed curriculum, and consistent with effective educational practice and the Evaluation Criteria, Local Appendix A, have individual professional autonomy in determining the methods of instruction, and the planning and presentation of course materials in the classes of pupils to which they are assigned.

  • Court Leave Leave of absence with pay shall be given to every employee, other than an employee on leave of absence without pay or under suspension, who is required:

  • Maternity, Parental and Adoption Leave Employees are eligible for unpaid leave of absence from employment subject to the conditions in this article. Every employee who intends to take a leave of absence under this article shall give at least 30 days' notice in writing to the Employer unless there is a valid reason why such notice cannot be given and shall inform the Employer in writing of the length of leave intended to be taken. Each employee who wishes to change the effective date of approved leave shall give four weeks' notice of such change unless there is a valid reason why notice cannot be given.
