Professional Responsibility – Workloads. The following provision will be effective September 29, 2001 and will expire on September 27, 2004. “The parties agree that patient care is enhanced if concerns relating to professional practice, patient acuity, fluctuating workloads and fluctuating staffing are resolved in a timely and effective manner. In the event that an employee or group of employees, covered under the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), are assigned a workload which is inconsistent with proper patient care, they shall express their concerns to their supervisor. The employee shall complete a “Workload Review Form” which shall be provided to the supervisor and to the Union. The Workload Review Form will be attached as an Appendix to the collective agreement.”

Professional Responsibility – Workloads. The Employer and the Union are committed to maintaining a workplace that demonstrates a sincere and continuing interest in the individual and collective wellbeing of all staff and recognizes the inherent worth and dignity of every employee. The Employer further recognizes that the issue of workload is of serious concern to bargaining unit members. Employees are encouraged to raise their concerns with their immediate supervisor. In the event that the workload concern is not resolved to the employee’s satisfaction, the employee may submit their concerns to the Labour Management Committee. The Employer does not object if the employees wish to use the workload review form attached to this Agreement for reference purposes only.

The Workload Review Form will be attached as a Letter of Understanding to the Collective Agreement. The intent of this process is not to find a reason to discipline Employees who submit workload review forms or to report them to a governing body.

In the event that a registered nurse or nurses is or are assigned a workload which is inconsistent with proper patient care, they shall express their concerns to their supervisor. The employee shall complete a "Workload Review Form" which shall be provided to the supervisor and to the Union. The Workload Review Form shall be attached as an Appendix to the Collective Agreement. This process is designed to facilitate discussion between employee and supervisor, but a dispute over workload shall not form the basis of a grievance under Article 7 - Grievance Procedure.
