Promotion Probationary Period. An employee promoted to a higher classification who is found to be unsuited for the work of the new classification, or who desires to return to the former position during the four hundred eighty (480) actual work hour probationary period, shall be reinstated to that former position with no loss of unit seniority. If the employee's former position has been filled, the employee filling that position may be removed and reinstated to their former position, and so forth, with no loss of unit seniority.
Promotion Probationary Period. There shall be a four (4) month probationary period in a promotion. If the employee has been promoted prior to the completion of the initial seven (7) month probationary period, the two (2) probationary periods shall run concurrently. If during this probationary period the employee is unable to perform as determined by the Employer or employee, he may be returned to his same position, seniority permitting. If the employee does not have the seniority to return to his same position, the layoff provisions in Article XVII shall apply.
Promotion Probationary Period. Officers promoted to higher ranks shall have their names removed from all eligibility lists on the date of promotion and shall be on probation for the first six (6) months of service in the higher rank. During this probationary period, they may be demoted to their former rank by the Chief in which event they shall have the right to grieve to the level of the Grievance Board. If the Grievance Board cannot resolve the issue, the matter may be appealed to Step 5 of the grievance procedure. Any officer who is demoted shall be notified, in writing, by the Chief, of the reasons for such demotion with a copy to the Lodge.
Promotion Probationary Period. All individuals promoted to the rank of sergeant shall serve a one (1) year probationary period from the date of appointment.
Promotion Probationary Period. Employees promoted to Driver, Captain, or Battalion Chief shall be on probation for the first six (6) months of service in the higher rank. During this probationary period, the employee may be demoted to his former rank by the Chief. Any employee who is demoted to his former rank shall be notified by the Chief of the reasons for such demotion.
Promotion Probationary Period. Employees who are promoted shall serve a six (6) month probationary period before becoming a permanent employee in the new classification but shall retain permanency in their previous position.
Promotion Probationary Period. 12 An employee selected for promotion will serve a probationary period of forty-five working days, during which period 13 retention in the new classification shall be entirely within the discretion of the Company. An employee’s probationary 14 period may be extended by mutual agreement of the Company, the Union Business Representative, and the 15 probationary employee. The Union will not unreasonably oppose extension of the probationary period. If it is the 16 Company’s decision to remove the promoted employee from the classification, the employee will be returned to their 17 previously-held classification, seniority permitting. If the employee’s seniority is insufficient to return to the 18 previously-held classification, the employee will be treated as if in the previously-held classification and laid off in 19 accordance with the provisions of Article IV, Section 2. If they choose to, a probationary employee may return to their 20 previously-held classification within the 45-day probation period. 1 ARTICLE V 3 EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
Promotion Probationary Period. All employees shall be considered probationary employees until the employee has completed 2080 hours of work in this command bargaining unit. During the probationary period, the employee may be returned to their former position by the Sheriff without recourse to or without regard to this Agreement if the same is permitted under the labor contract to which the employee was promoted from. The probationary employee may be terminated without recourse to or without regard to this Agreement and shall not be entitled to the benefits of the grievance procedure as it relates to discipline and/or discharge. The probationary employee can be terminated for any reason or for no reason by the Sheriff. Upon completion of such probationary period, the employee's name shall be placed on the seniority list as of their last date of promotion; provided, however, that if an employee is absent from work, their probationary period shall be extended by a period equal to the duration of such absence.
Promotion Probationary Period. All individuals promoted to the rank of Dispatch Coordinator shall serve a one (1) year probationary period from the date of appointment.
Promotion Probationary Period. Promotion within the unit shall be subject to a 12 month probationary period. Upon mutual agreement with the Union, the City may extend the probationary period up to six (6) months. In the event the City determines an employee is unable to successfully complete his/her probationary period, the employee will be entitled to return to his/her former position.
