Purpose of Sabbatical Leave a. Sabbatical Leave is given to Teachers to permit them to improve their ability to render educational service. The improvement is usually achieved by formal study, research and travel.
Purpose of Sabbatical Leave. Sabbatical leaves may be awarded to qualified tenured members of the faculty for intellectual refreshment, normally to be obtained by study, research, travel, work experience, or other creative activity as delineated below:

Such improvement is usually achieved by formal study, research, writing or travel and, if taken for one or more of these four reasons, the bargaining unit member may engage in employment during the sabbatical leave. A sabbatical leave will not be granted for the sole purpose of gainful employment elsewhere.
