Purpose of Sabbatical Leave a. Sabbatical Leave is given to Teachers to permit them to improve their ability to render educational service. The improvement is usually achieved by formal study, research and travel.
b. The following information shall be presented in the application:
Purpose of Sabbatical Leave. Sabbatical leaves may be awarded to qualified tenured members of the faculty for intellectual refreshment, normally to be obtained by study, research, travel, work experience, or other creative activity as delineated below:
Purpose of Sabbatical Leave. Sabbatical leave is given to allow a professional bargaining unit member time to engage in activities designed to improve his ability to render educational service. Such improvement is usually achieved by formal study, research, writing or travel and, if taken for one or more of these four reasons, the bargaining unit member may engage in employment during the sabbatical leave. A sabbatical leave will not be granted for the sole purpose of gainful employment elsewhere.
Purpose of Sabbatical Leave. The purpose of sabbatical leaves is to provide Unit Members with the opportunity to pursue educational activities which will enhance their professional growth and enrichment and contribute to the improvement of the instructional services and programs of the District. Sabbatical leaves may be granted for one of, or a combination of, the following activities:

b. The following information shall be presented in the application:
(1) For formal study - a program to study at an accredited college or university should be briefly outlined.
(2) For research - a program of research under the guidance of competent research personnel should be briefly outlined.
(3) For travel - a written plan, including the proposed itinerary, shall be submitted.
(4) For other reasons - a written plan shall be submitted stating goals and objectives which are sought.

Purpose of Sabbatical Leave. 3 Sabbatical leaves are granted to enable recipients to be engaged in programs of 4 research and/or study, thus to become more effective teachers within their 5 disciplines and to enhance their services to the College.
Purpose of Sabbatical Leave. 1. Sabbatical leave is granted to professional personnel to permit them an opportunity for improving their ability to render educational service. Such improvement is usually achieved by formal study and research and/or writing to meet degree requirements. Applications for other types of experiences will be considered on their merits and may be approved by the Board upon the recommendation of the Chief School Administrator.
2. Application requirements and procedures:
a. Applications for sabbatical leave must be filed with the Sabbatical Leave Committee on the prescribed form. It would be desirable to submit a preliminary proposal for committee review by December 1. Applications for leaves must be filed by January 1. The Board, however, reserves the right to grant exceptions.
b. The Chief School Administrator shall give notice in writing to the applicant whether the request is granted or rejected within sixty (60) days after the due date for filing the application.
c. The application shall contain:
1. A statement of the purpose of the leave both with regard to the administrator and the Cedar Grove schools.
2. An outline and/or discussion of the program.
3. Evidence of professional sponsorship as indicated in Section 3 following.
4. Written comments on the purpose of the leave by the supervisor/Superintendent with whom the matter appropriately rests.
5. A statement regarding any compensation the administrator expects to earn or be awarded during the period of the leave and the conditions to be fulfilled by the candidate in this condition.
3. Each applicant shall offer, whenever possible, evidence of professional sponsorship. In the case of formal study such evidence would be a statement of acceptance by a university in a planned program of study which is considered to be full time, and said applicant shall submit evidence of this fact by said institution. For research programs a statement of the awarding of a grant or a statement from a recognized authority that he has reviewed the proposal and will undertake to sponsor it should be submitted. Proposals for writing should present evidence of prior commitment by a publisher or a commitment by a publisher or a commitment from a recognized authority to serve as an editorial consultant.
4. Exceptions shall be granted at the discretion of the Chief School Administrator and the Board.
Purpose of Sabbatical Leave. 10 Sabbatical leave will be for a program directly related to the 11 individual’s area of proficiency and endeavor and the goals of the 12 district/or building. The program may be schooling, travel, or 13 research.
Purpose of Sabbatical Leave. 12.14.2.1. Sabbatical leaves are intended for certificated personnel who have as their primary purpose the maintenance or improvement of skills required in their position.
12.14.2.2. All activities for which leaves are granted must be planned in consultation with the Superintendent and any changes in such plans must be approved in advance by the Superintendent.
12.14.2.3. Sabbatical leaves will be granted for further graduate study at an accredited university or college. A minimum of twenty four (24) units will be completed for a one (1) year sabbatical leave. Study may be in courses for which formal credit is granted at the graduate study level in the unit member's field or closely related fields such as the behavioral sciences.
12.14.2.4. Whenever possible, research projects for the Master's Thesis or Doctor's Dissertation will be relative to the needs of the school district and/or the unit member's position.
