RECOGNITION OF EDUCATION. ‌ B3.01 In addition to the salary set out in Appendix 1, employees who so qualify shall be paid the education allowance set out in this article, subject to the following conditions: a) During the recruitment process for a new employee the Employer shall provide the employee a copy of the job description for the position, and shall advise the employee, in writing, of his/her eligibility to receive the allowance if they possess any education or training identified as being “desirable” on the job description. Upon the approval of the Employer that the submitted degree, etc. under sub-paragraph (d) below meets the “desirable” education or training, the employee will be entitled to receive the said allowance; b) Should the employee take extra training after being hired and thereby become eligible for said allowance, the employee will apply to the Employer to receive the allowance. c) An employee who possesses education or training which the employee believes is related to and utilized in the performance of his/her duties, other than that identified as being “desirable” on the job description for the employee’s position, may request that the Employer give consideration to including such education or training as being “desirable” for the position. In the event that the Employer, at its discretion, agrees that the education or training is “desirable” in regard to the performance of the employee’s duties, then the employee shall be entitled to be paid the education allowance set out in this article. d) The employee has provided the Employer with a copy of the appropriate degree, diploma, certificate or other acceptable evidence of successful completion of the education program. e) In respect of employees hired after November 19, 2001, the education allowance shall not be paid where the possession of the degree, diploma or certificate is a basic requirement of the employee’s position; and f) The allowance specified in this article shall not be paid retroactively for any period preceding the date of the employee’s application. B3.02 For employees who qualify, the amount of the education allowance shall be: Per Year Per Hour a) Recognized specialty course of 3 to 6 months $ 255 $ 0.13 b) Recognized specialty course of 7 to 12 months $ 390 $ 0.20 c) One year certification course $ 710 $ 0.36 d) Bachelor’s degree $ 875 $ 0.45 e) Master’s degree/Nurse Practitioner $1,200 $ 0.61 B3.03 The education allowance is not cumulative and an employee shall be paid only the highest...

RECOGNITION OF EDUCATION. 33.01 In addition to the salary set forth in Schedule "A", any Employee who so qualifies shall receive for all paid hours, allowances for education as follows: * Approved post-graduate course $0.17 per hour * Approved post-graduate course shall mean: (a) A nursing course of three (3) months or longer duration (including Nursing Management Course and Midwifery II). Employee(s) with Xxxxxxxxx XX who are assigned to obstetrical duties will receive the additional stipend. Employees receiving an allowance for recognition of other courses prior to June 24, 1993 will continue to receive this allowance for all paid hours. Employee(s) paid at Nurse II and Nurse III rates receiving an allowance for education of forty-five cents ($0.45) per hour shall continue to receive this allowance for all paid hours. 33.02 The allowances for a clinical course and for the course in Nursing Unit Administration are payable only when the course is applicable to the position held by the Employee. 33.03 Allowances for education are not cumulative and an Employee shall be paid only for the highest qualifications attained. 33.04 Allowances for Education as established in this Article shall commence only after successful completion of the probationary period as set forth in Article 19.

RECOGNITION OF EDUCATION. 31.01 In addition to the salary rates of pay set out in Schedule "A", any Employee who has successfully completed her probationary period and so qualifies shall receive the following educational allowance: (a) An Employee who has successfully completed one (1) or more approved graduate courses, of three (3) months or longer duration, and where this course is utilized in the performance of the Employee's duties, shall receive an educational allowance of seventeen cents ($0.17) per hour. (b) An Employee who has received a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and where this qualification is utilized in the course of the performance of the Employee's duties, the Employee shall receive an educational allowance of twenty one cents ($0.21) per hour. (c) An Employee who has received a Masters Degree in Nursing and where this qualification is utilized in the course of the performance of the Employee's duties, the Employee shall receive an educational allowance of sixty four cents ($0.64) per hour. 31.02 Allowances for education are not cumulative and an Employee shall be paid only for the highest qualifications attained.
