Research Objective. Considering that single-loop detectors are still the major source of live traffic data and that surveillance video cameras have been widely deployed along urban freeways, this research aimed to improve truck and speed data by using existing single-loop sensors and surveillance video cameras. Specifically, we had the following three objectives: • design and implement a new algorithm that uses single-loop measurements for speed and truck data estimation • develop a prototype plug and play Video-based Vehicle Detection and Classification (VVDC) system for truck data collection that would use un- calibrated video images • explore the feasibility of pairing video and single-loop sensors for better speed estimates. Develop and test a computer application that combines single-loop measurements and vehicle length calculated by the VVDC system for improved speed calculation.

Research Objective. This study used field-observed data to quantitatively evaluate the impacts of the SS- RTSP project on both transit and local traffic operations. We developed a series of measures of effectiveness (MOE) to assess traffic performance. Specifically, this research had three major objectives: • quantitatively evaluate the TSP system benefits for transit operationscalculate the overall impacts of the TSP system on local traffic networks • understand how TSP effects changed with traffic conditions and signal control strategies.
Research Objective. The aim of the work in this dissertation is to explore what adaptations are needed to improve the fit of a parenting intervention for use in multi-ethnic disadvantaged neighborhoods. This research used a bottom-up and systematic approach to assess parents’ perspectives regarding their parenting experiences, and to identify their needs and stressors. Each chapter in this dissertation is a part of this stepwise approach that led to the selection of an intervention, and its adaptation for and evaluation in a multi-ethnic disadvantaged neighborhood in the Netherlands. Before outlining this work in each chapter, we first brieˌy describe the research context. In the Netherlands, child healthcare services aim to monitor the physical, social, psychological and cognitive development of children (aged 0-23 years), and to identify problems in order to offer timely interventions (Xxxxxxxxxx et al., 2008; Xxxxxxxxxx, 2013). As part of the child healthcare system, children in the Netherlands undergo 18 routine examinations during their preschool and school-age period. These assessments consist of a physical examination and an interview by a child healthcare nurse or physician with the parents and with older children (aged ۝ 13 years) themselves. Access is universal and independent of insurance status (Reijneveld et al., 2008). The child healthcare organizations generally function as front offices for the provision of parenting support, which is the responsibility of the local municipalities (Hilverdink, Daamen, & Xxxx, 2015). Parenting support can be actively offered during or subsequent to routine assessments, and parents can request support or sign-up for planned workshops and courses by contacting the child healthcare organizations. The availability of parenting support for parents depends on local policies and competencies and varies between the various municipalities. Both evidence-based and practice-based parenting interventions are provided. Parenting support is generally offered for free, although a small fee is sometimes requested for program materials. In this dissertation, ethnicity is an important construct and is defined as a group of people who share a common culture, religion, language, or nationality (Xxxxxx et al., 2006). There are a variety of ethnic minority groups in the Netherlands, with different migrant histories. In the early 1960s, the Netherlands became an immigration country due to increased prosperity that occurred simultaneously with reduced...
Research Objective. The research will focus on the investigation of the citizens’ rights involved and whether (or in what manners) these rights are being impaired by eHealth technologies and (health) data transfers. Citizens’ rights (e.g. the right to access one’s data, the right to data portability) might be affected through data transfers, as citizens are not always aware of what kind of data they are transmitting and the fact that data related to their person might not only be stored in their medical file but also in other locations when using healthcare technologies. To this end, the deliverable will focus on the aspects of data protection, privacy, and confidentiality in terms of eHealth tools which facilitate the transfer of citizen-related health data. The deliverable also seeks to offer an interdisciplinary discussion taking into account the legal aspects of citizens’ healthcare rights, while also considering ethical considerations by using the principles of biomedical ethics as normative criteria by Xxxxxxxxx and Xxxxxxxxx. More specifically stated, the envisaged output of the deliverable includes: 1) A comprehensive overview of healthcare rights of citizens under the current legal framework, i.
Research Objective. Based on the formulation of the problem above, the purpose of this study was conducted to describe how the impact of Indonesia's horticultural restriction policy on the production activities of citrus farmers in Pakistan after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Research Objective. To improve the efficacy, energy efficiency, cost-effectiveness and environmental impact of vaccine cold chain and reverse cold chain by supporting the expanded application of underutilized materials and manufacturing processes through public-private partnerships. This project will apply advanced manufacturing technologies to design and produce light weight and thermally-efficient transport equipment for vaccines and biological specimens.

Research Objective. The overall objective of this formative research was to access the acceptability, feasibility and cultural appropriateness of the feeding toolkit among stakeholders in Mchinji district. The specific objectives of the study were to; 1. Understand complementary child feeding practices in Mchinji district 2. Assess community acceptability and potential barriers to the use feeding toolkit and obtain feedback on the counselling card 3. Identify feasible and effective channels for distributing feeding toolkit to eligible households.
Research Objective. This thesis can be viewed as a continuation of the work on an RDF indexing technique called TripleT, developed in 2008 by Xxxxxxxx and Xxxx [2]. Using TripleT as the framework, the goal is to better understand the requirements for building an effective SPARQL query optimizer. Specifically, we study the information necessary to facilitate good join ordering. We develop a model for predicting the number of I/Os required for a join based on TripleT using statistics that are easily collected during the creation of the index. Experiments are conducted to validate the model.
