Section 17.1.1. 29 Payroll warrants will be issued on the last banking day of the month. Employees are required to 30 have their payroll warrants direct deposited electronically into a designated bank account.
Section 17.1.1. 9 Effective September 1, 2019, wages for all positions will be as reflected on Schedule A. Each 10 year of the agreement (including 2019-2020) the District and Association shall conduct a wage 11 study of all positions within Ferndale PSE, comparing to like positions in Whatcom County 12 School Districts (Bellingham, Blaine, Lynden, Meridian, Mount Baker, and Nooksack Valley).
Section 17.1.1. 7 The building principal will annually identify two (2) certificated staff members that will serve 8 as administrator designee during the school day in the absence of the principal.
Section 17.1.1. Employees working less than a twelve (12) month year shall have their compensable allowances 15 paid in twelve (12) equal increments. Compensable items shall include: Forecasted annual hours 16 of employment, paid holidays, and paid vacations. The District shall pay overtime within two (2) 17 pay periods after the occurrence of the specific overtime.
Section 17.1.1. 42 Newly hired employees may petition the District for longevity credit based upon employment 43 outside of Washington public schools. New employees must request such credit and provide 44 documentation from previous employers demonstrating relevant experience within sixty (60) 45 days of hire. Upon review of the documentation and understanding the nature of the experience 46 the District may elect to allow full or partial longevity credit. Appeals may be addressed to the 47 Superintendent, whose decision shall be final and binding. Decisions shall not be subject to the
Section 17.1.1. 10 A. Bus Driver Trainees participating in the Mount Baker School District Driver Training Program 11 will be paid at step 1 of Schedule A for time spent in training (as follows):
13 1. In-Class-Training: Two (2) hours of the four (4) hours per day will be paid – not to exceed 14 ten (10) hours
16 2. Behind-the-Wheel: Ten (10) hours will be paid – time frame is no longer than six (6) weeks 17 from the completion of In-Class-Training
19 3. Bus Driver Trainee must fulfill required background checks before compensation is 20 provided; however, training can commence prior to background checks
22 4. The Annual In-Service Training is recognized as a separate activity and all current or 23 separated staff who attend and sign an intent to bid on a route or be a substitute Bus Driver 24 will be paid for first-aid and annual in-service training
26 B. The District will reimburse a successful candidate for the cost of training and CDL licensing for 27 any employee required by the District to obtain a CDL and bus driver license after he/she already 28 is employed in a position not requiring such training and licensing.
30 C. Successful Bus Driver Trainees shall be guaranteed a minimum of ten (10) hours of 31 substitute/work time per week. This will not accrue toward seniority.
33 D. The District will reimburse any expenses incurred by a new employee or substitute, reasonably 34 related to the acquisition of their Commercial Driver’s License, not to exceed five hundred fifty 35 dollars ($550.00). Reimbursement is to include the following expenses: permit test, permit 36 license, CDL physical, drug testing, driving record report, and CDL License. Such 37 reimbursement will be paid only after all of the following three (3) items are satisfied:
39 1. Completion of twenty (20) hours classroom instruction and twenty (20) hours of driving 40 instruction; 41 42 2. Successful completion and acquisition of a CDL; and 44 3. Sixty (60) calendar days as an available substitute or at least forty (40) hours of actual bus 45 driving work for the District, whichever comes first.
1 E. If the employee separates from district employment prior to one hundred twenty (120) work-days 2 from the date the CDL is issued, any reimbursement will be recaptured from the substitute’s final 3 paycheck.

Section 17.1.1. All provisions of this Agreement shall be effective on or after the date of contract signing by 6 both parties. Upon signing, all items will be retroactive to September 1, 2016.
Section 17.1.1. 24 Compensatory open time shall not be used as a compensation technique in any fashion 25 whatsoever.
