The Seniority Criteria clause defines the rules and standards used to determine the relative ranking or precedence of individuals, positions, or claims within an organization or agreement. Typically, this clause outlines the factors that establish seniority, such as length of service, date of hire, or specific achievements, and may specify how ties are resolved or how seniority affects promotions, layoffs, or benefits. Seniority Criteria. The teaching force shall be divided into the following categories:
a. Employees with provisional contracts.
b. Employees with continuing contracts. Within each category, the following criteria shall be applied, in the order in which they are listed, to the employees covered by this agreement:
a. Certificated staff members shall be ranked as to total longevity seniority as a certificated employee in Washington State.
b. In the event ties exist in the application of (a) above, those certificated staff members shall be ranked as to total longevity seniority as a certificated employee in the District.
c. In the event ties still exist in the application of (b) above, those certificated staff members shall be ranked as to total education credits beyond the BA as computed by the District in accordance with placement on the salary schedule.
d. In the event that ties continue to exist, a final selection shall be made by lot, by a disinterested third party.
e. Reduction in Force Super Seniority for the Association president and immediate past president will be applied.
Seniority Criteria. 19 The following seniority criteria shall be applied in the order in which the criteria are listed: 20
21 A. Definition: Contracted years of employment shall be determined to the nearest one-tenth (1/10) 22 of a year by using the sum of all contracted full-time equivalent employment days during a school 23 year divided by 180 days. 24
25 B. Employees shall be ranked as to total longevity seniority as a certificated employee in 26 Washington state. 27
28 C. In the event ties exist in the application of "B" above, those certificated employees shall be 29 ranked as to total longevity as certificated employees in the District. 30
31 D. In the event ties still exist in the application of "C" above, those certificated employees shall be 32 ranked as to total education credits beyond the B.A. as computed by the District in accordance 33 with placement on the salary schedule, as of October 1 of the current school year. 34
35 E. In the event ties continue to exist, comprehensive summative evaluation performance ratings 36 from an employee’s most recent comprehensive evaluation will be used to break the tie between 37 two classroom teachers; and 38
Seniority Criteria. The following criteria shall be applied in the order in which they are listed to the employees covered by this Agreement:
a) The certificated staff members, identified in 11.3.1 above, shall be ranked as to total longevity seniority as a certificated employee in Washington State. In order to determine the number of years of seniority, the district and the association agree that years of service credited with the Washington Teacher’s Retirement System shall control. Seniority includes Washington State teaching service prior to resignation or leave and can include substitute service if service credits have been earned within the Washington Teacher’s Retirement System. In the event of a dispute between an employee’s opinion and service credits, the burden of factual proof shall fall upon the employee.
b) In the event that ties exist after the application of 11.

Seniority Criteria. For purposes of vacation accrual, seniority is defined as years of continuous regular District employment as of June 30, of the relevant year. The year that shall be considered shall begin on July 1 and end on June 30. Based on the above calculation guidelines, vacation credit for employees on twelve (12) month, 260 paid duty day assignments will be earned in the following manner:
a. Employees who have five years or less shall earn ten pro-rata days vacation per year.
Seniority Criteria. For purposes of this section, the District may credit new hires with up to five years of employment depending on background and experience. Vacation accrual shall be on the pay period following an employee’s continuous leave accrual date. (Unless prior experience is granted, the continuous leave accrual date is the first date of continuous employment in a sick leave eligible position in the District.)
a. Employees who have five years or less shall earn ten pro-rata days vacation per year.
b. After five years employees shall earn 15 pro-rata days vacation per year.
c. After ten years employees shall earn 20 pro-rata days vacation per year.
d. After fifteen years employees shall earn 21 pro-rata days vacation per year.
e. After seventeen years employees shall earn 22 pro-rata days vacation per year.
f. After twenty years employees shall earn 23 pro-rata days vacation per year. Employees with assignments of 210 or more paid days but less than 260 paid days shall earn vacation in the following manner:
a. Employees who have eight (8) years or less shall earn ten (10) pro-rata days vacation.
b. Employees who have more than eight (8) years shall earn a maximum of fifteen (15) pro- rata days vacation.
