Shift Switching. The Employer supports the concept of “voluntary” shift switching between employees but reserves the management right to determine the procedures and guidelines under which shift switching shall occur. All shift changes require prior approval of the Police Chief or designee.

Employees may switch shifts, with the prior approval of management, however, the changed shift must be paid back within the designated periods outlined below: When a employee switches shifts with another employee, the pay back date must be specified two-week period, or the person owing will incur a loss of Free Day or loss of pay. When a full-time employee switches with a part-time employee, the pay back date must be specified on the shift change form. Pay back occur within the same scheduled week or the person owing will incur a loss of Free Day or loss of pay. When a employee switches shifts with a seasonal employee, the pay back date must be specified on the change form. Pay back must occur within the same scheduled week or the person owing will incur a loss of Free Day or loss of pay. When a part-time employee switches shifts with another part-time employee, the pay back date must be specified on the change form. Where a part-time employee switches shifts with a seasonal temporary employee, the pay back date must be specified on the shift change form. Pay back must occur within the same scheduled week or the person owing will incur a loss of Free Day or loss of pay. Approval of shift changes will not be unreasonably withheld. The Operations Superintendent or his designee shall be notified of all shift changes by means of a shift change form to be submitted prior to the switch. Three-way switching is prohibited.
Shift Switching. Staff can be permitted to switch an unlimited number of shifts with other staff provided that the following conditions are met:
a. That the staff are within the same job description.
b. That the shifts are within the same pay periods.
c. That the person requesting the switch will not be available to work on an arranged free day, unless otherwise mutually agreed.
d. That overtime rate will not be paid for any shift that is voluntarily switched.
e. That the shifts that are being switched, are considered equal for the purpose of scheduling.
16.08 a. The Employer agrees that all available hours of work and preference of shifts shall be offered to available regular part-time Employees first, provided that overtime is not incurred, and thereafter to Students.

Shift Switching. Shift switching will be allowed with 24-hour notice except on Holidays and shall not result in overtime for any party.
Shift Switching. Shift switching will be allowed as follows:
a. Shift switching will be permitted on a one-on-one basis between two employees.
b. Employees who switch shifts will each maintain their own rate of pay, which they would have earned had each worked their own shift.
c. Daily overtime (any time beyond eight [8] hours in a 24-hour period) will not accrue should the shift swap occur within a 24-hour period and result in one or both employees working more than eight (8) hours in a 24-hour period.
d. All switches will be subject to the approval of the Sheriff or his designee, and requests shall not be unreasonably denied.
e. Accurate time sheets, reflecting shift switches, must be maintained by the applicable employees.
f. All shift switches must occur within the same pay period.
g. Employees who switch shifts will assume the seniority of the person with whom they are switching for that particular shift.
Shift Switching. 10.1 Employees may switch shifts, with the prior approval of management; subject to the following conditions:
(a) Requests are to be submitted on the proper form to a Plaza Superintendent (if not available the Toll Captain or Acting Maintenance Xxxxxxx), for approval not less than 48 hours prior to the start of the first shift being changed. NOTE: The 48 hours’ notice maybe waived at the discretion of the Plaza Superintendent prior to the request;
(b) Switches are not considered approved unless signed by a Plaza Superintendent or his/her designee. In circumstances where the form is not available to the Plaza Superintendent, verbal or electronic approval is permissible;
(c) When an employee switches shifts with another employee, the pay back date must be specified on the shift change form. Pay back must occur within the same 40 hour work week, or the person owing will incur a loss of a Free Day(s) or loss of pay.
(d) Three-way switching is prohibited;
(e) Approval of the shift change will not be unreasonably withheld. However, consideration shall be given to employees experience, participation in training events, work location and skill and ability;
(f) Employees may not approve their own shift switches.
(g) Employees that book off during one of the approved switched shifts will be expected to submit proof satisfactory to management that the absence was legitimate. If the excuse is not satisfactory to management, the employee may be subject to progressive discipline.

Shift Switching. The switching of occasional days off, or shifts, may be permitted by the Employer provided that the switch does not cause any anticipated Overtime pay. In addition, the Employer may require the employees involved to execute a written form indicating the responsibilities for each employee. Employees required to attend training lasting less than eight (8) hours, outside of their regularly scheduled shift, shall have the option to complete their eight (8) hour workday immediately following the completion of training, rather than completing their workday during their regularly scheduled shift.
