Short Term Disability Program. After four months of continuous service, an employee in benefit groups A, B or C is covered by the University’s internal short term disability PROGRAM at no cost to the employee, provided the employee qualifies for long term disability benefits as noted in section 5.f. If an employee is not in group A, B, or C, they are not eligible for short-term disability income through this PROGRAM. The PROGRAM provides an income for up to 26 weeks if the employee retires due to a total and permanent disability.
Short Term Disability Program. It is mandatory for all eligible full-time and part-time employees to enrol in the Short-Term Disability Program on the first day, of accident or illness, in the fourth consecutive week (21st day).
Short Term Disability Program. (a) Short Term Disability Program (STD) All eligible employees may participate in a mutually-agreed short term disability plan. Effective October 9, 2002, the Employer shall pay seventy-five percent (75%) of the cost of the required premium. The Parties agree to carry on with the existing plan. Eligibility • Regular (scheduled to work at least 20 hours/week) employees are eligible to receive Short Term Disability. • Part-time regular employees are eligible for Short Term Disability on a pro-rated basis determined by their weekly work schedule. • New employees are eligible for Short Term Disability the first of the month in which their 6- month anniversary falls. • Rehires with at least six months prior service are eligible for Short Term Disability on their first day of employment. Definition of Disability For the purpose of determining benefits under this plan, Disabled or Disability means that, due to sickness or as a direct result of accidental injury: • You are receiving appropriate care and treatment and complying with the requirements of such treatment; and • You are unable to earn more than 80% of your pre-disability earnings at your own occupation or an occupation within Windstream for which you are reasonably qualified taking into account your training, education and experience.
